Christopher Gordon
Gabriel Yared

Anyone have any experiences to share about any of the above?

Met Christopher Gordon at Soncinemad 4 years ago and he was such a nice guy. Actually I talked a lot with him and his wife, they sat behind me at most of the lectures there so we chatted about everything from film music to hotel experiences. So he did not refuse to sign any autographs.

Gabriel Yared was also attending this festival at Soncinemad and even if I did get to ask him a question at the lecture I did not get his autograph because he had to leave earlier than planned so I do not know how he is in person.

I interviewed Christopher Gordon and his assistant was kind enough to make that possible and even sent me some CDs to giveaway. I was hoping to get them signed but since Mr. Gordon was in Australia at the time [I think it was Oz] that was not possible.

At no time did I get an impression from his assistant that he was against signing work but then again I was requesting copies of DAYBREAKERS that had the UPCs punched and I was specifically told not to sell any copies on Ebay and other such market places so it seems that there always is that "threat."

Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard did a signing together a few years back for 'The Dark Knight' at Virgin Records here in LA. They pretty much signed anything people asked them to.

I've never met nor had contact with Mr Gordon but I was fortunate enough to snag a CD signed by him - so I can confirm it happens, of only on occasion.

well, what about the others? we should expand both lists a little bit...

has anyone ever get anything through mail from any of the following?

Yes on the following:

Mychael Danna
George Fenton
Elliot Goldenthal
Randy Newman
Thomas Newman
John Scott

My usual deal of a short letter of appreciation and an SAS return envelope did the trick with these composers.

One composer who(m?) I wrote about getting a signature politely declined, stating -in a nutshell- he didn't have enough time to write his eight letters on a CD cover. However, he did have time to explain all of this in a rather wordy eMail. Ah, those wacky composers... big grin

The only autograph that I really want, but know it would be impossible is John Williams' signature on either my ROTLA or STAR WARS LP. I haven't really bothered attempting because I know he is a busy man. He only signs at special events like the Hollywood Bowl concert, right?

I was also considering trying to send AI or something to his office at Boston Pops Orchestra - if that is still an option, but since it seems he does´t sign that much anymore, I probably won´t.

Williams also signs by mail but this might take almost two years. Ask Christian Kühn, he sent a cover and got it returned signed.

Well, I don't care very much about autographs

Then why you trollin the thread, bro?

I did not found any post talking about God to throw my atheist comments and make people doubt their faith, so this thread was the next best option big grin

Don't try, you'll get your stuff returned with a nice note. I can't remember if he sends a 5X7 photo of him signed from the Boston addy or not.

If anyone wants my autograph, I will sign for free. LOL kidding

LOL, Christian Henson? Never heard of him. I guess it's not because he's too famous he won't do an autograph.

Maybe he should do some shitty electronic stuff to appear on your radar.

Fuck you too.

Yes, I was there last year and going there this year. If you know the right people and events, there's a chance of getting things signed. But probably not at the concert itself. I hung around with the composers at the reception after the press conference, but really have no interest in autographs. I got to talk with them a bit, though, and shoot some pics -- with Goldenthal and Badalamenti, for example.

On the subject of James Horner he is actually a nice guy -I had a picture with him at the recording session for the CD BACK TO THE TITANIC Air studios Lyndhurst Hall London
But I did not ask for an autograph at the time, silly me it never crossed my mind at the time.
