Amazon UK still has it listed, but I suspect that's just an oversight.
It's odd that Lakeshore would cancel this but still plan to release Zigman's score for I Don't Know How She Does It, a film that was a much bigger flop than Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (and with a much less satisfying score, a last-minute replacement for Rachel Portman).

Not to mention putting out song AND score albums for Beastly and Hoodwinked Too! Hood Vs. Evil (the combined running time of the two discs for the latter could actually fit on one disc, by the way)...
I'm still hoping that at one point a (smaller) label will start releasing CDs of all those download-only titles, whether it's Horner's KARATE KID or Beltrami's DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK. There should be ... some money in it, right?
Bugger. This would probably explain why my SAE order hasn't been dispatched yet. A shame that they consider the performance of the film as a reason not to release the score on CD. At least they could have let Amazon do it as a CDR on demand. As it Lakeshore won't be getting my money now as I don't buy lossy downloads instead it will be going towards a CD from someone else - probably 55 days in Peking or Tadlow's FotRE.

Karate Kid is available as a CD-R.
I know, I meant: Isn't there a (small) market for soundtracks that have previously only been released as download only or CD-R albums? Wouldn't al lot of people (around here, anyway) gladly pay, say: 20 bucks for a properly pressed CD, artwork and all?
BTW - I fail to see the difference between downloads and "made-to-order" CD-Rs.
It strikes me as really odd that the CD has been canceled, given that there has already been a digital release of this. It's been mentioned a couple of times around the board that production of physical CDs is relatively inexpensive. Given that the album was already produced for online consumption, it can't have cost Lakeshore that much to release on CD.
Is this due to some kind of additional cost for releasing on a different medium? Would it cost Lakeshore much more than the price of the disks to release this in another format?

Chris.
Well perhaps a physical release will happen when it comes out on DVD. Didn't we go through a scare with Lakeshore on THE LAST AIRBENDER and then there were suddenly copies everywhere?
If it is cancelled, I don't feel so bad about getting a digital copy from someone who shared it with me.
This really sucks. I had it on pre-order for a couple months and then I got that e-mail about it being pushed back, but I didn't realize they were going to CANCEL it. I'm very disappointed, because this was the best modern film score I've heard in a long time. It's so lush and melodious, and while I liked the movie a good deal, perhaps the score made it better than it actually is! I wish scores as beautiful as this would become the norm these days.

Well, at least there was a digital release of the score... better than nothing. I think we'd probably better start getting used to digital only releases...
I'm so disappointed at this. I've had the CD pre-ordered since it was first announced. I know that we should be thankful there is at least a download of it but I still never feel something is properly released until there is a physical cd. Guess I'll need to change my thinking in these modern times. I'd love to get a chat with one of these Studio execs that make these kind if decisions though. I mean what kind of audience do they think are going to buy an orchestral soundtrack to a horror film! Do you they think that said kind of audience really gives a damn that the film was a blockbuster or not? Its all about the music or even being a fan of the composer. Its like following a band for some people. You buy the latest release that comes out, not mattering what its from. This was a tremendous score, certainly one of the best horror scores in recent years. It should be getting Oscar nods not cds cancelled!Aaaaaaaagh!!!!!!
At one point I'd like to have someone explain to me how it's a good, working business model to release a soundtrack CD way after the initial movie premiere (Varese nowadays tends to release certain soundtracks weeks if not months later...)
