This is a beautiful score and I think it even surpasses A Single Man. It's a cross between the styles of Glass and Desplat (in Tree of Life mood or ELAIC). This has some of the most moving film music I've heard in a long while. He's rapidly becoming a favorite of mine. Last year's Copernicus Star was equally mindblowing.

Picked this score up yesterday. Another brilliant score by Mr Korzeniowski.

Promo

Official

I finally saw W.E., it was the most anticipated movie from 2011 for me. More than The Artist and War Horse. The trailer looked really good and I just kept reading how gorgeous Korzeniowski's music was.

The movie was good, I really like this kind of romantic dramas. I find it to be the best score of 2011.

The FYC promo score has about 5 minutes of extra music and there is a piece called "Paris Walk" which is just 43 seconds long but I Love it, I remember watching that exact scene and really enjoying the music. The "Fight" piece is also not included in the released score.

Here are some reviews of the score:

So I was about to request at pianoplateau.com a piano transcription of "Evgeni's Waltz", that beautiful piece played in the movie when I bumped into this....

The man himself is sharing the music-sheet for free, anyone can donate.

Can't wait to hear more from him.

"Madonna premiers a new version of her mega hit LIKE A VIRGIN reworked with Abel Korzeniowski’s EVGENI’S WALTZ from W.E..
In an unprecedented move, Madonna combines one of the most defining songs of her career with an emotional, classical piano piece composed for her film about the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
The new version’s title is LIKE A VIRGIN WALTZ.
The concert in Tel Aviv on May 31 opens the 2012 MDNA world tour."

I'd like to hear a clean good quality version of this, hope it gets released.

It's atrocious. Godawful. Worst part of the concert.

I wouldn't know, it's hard to tell from those youtube clips.

I'm just now getting around to hearing this lovely score. One thing does stick out like a sore thumb and that's the track Brooklyn Faces which is an almost Titus/300-level rip off of Glass' Mishima score. I'm surprised that hasn't been mentioned more....

Chris.

"#SECRETPROJECTREVOLUTION is a 17-minute film directed by Madonna and Steven Klein, with music by Abel Korzeniowski. The film launches Art For Freedom, a global initiative to further freedom of expression, created by Madonna, curated by VICE, and distributed by BitTorrent.

Art For Freedom encourages the world to express their personal meaning of freedom and revolution in the form of video, music, poetry, and photography."

Track List:
Satin Birds (W.E.)
Charms (W.E.)
Evgeni’s Waltz (W.E.)
Abdication (W.E.)
Letters (W.E.)
Revolving Door (W.E.)

You can watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXfXrl4K2D4

It was nice to see W.E.'s music used in a different context. I saw Escape From Tomorrow yesterday, can wait't to see R&J. Korzeniowski really needs more projects, the guy is freaking great.

"W.E." remains my second favorite Abel Korzeniowski score (after "A Single Man"), and it looks like "Romeo And Juliet" isn't going to knock those 2 out of their secure perch at the top of my Korzeniowski favorites. But having heard all the music currently available for download, I've revised my initial reaction from when I just sampled about a minute of each cue. While not great, it's still worth having, and I don't expect that many will bring out the hammers to bash it.

Flash: On tonight's "Jeopardy!," we found out that writer Joseph Conrad ("The Heart of Darkness") was born Jozef Korzeniowski. I'm glad Abel kept his name -- would hate for it to be Abel Conrad!

Did we really need this in three different threads?

Jon:

I figured that other members would have seen "Jeopardy!" and that, a day or 2 or 3 later, others would have added it to each of the 2 other threads focused on Korzeniowski. But I too have complained about unnecessary redundancy myself, so can understand your point. I assume you are on record decrying redundancy. Right?

Just heard this score and it is gorgeous. Just surprised that Madonna of all people is involved in the project. She must have good taste in music?

Forgive the redundancy, but it's still my second favorite Abel Korzeniowski score, after "A Single Man."

Here's an interview I missed with Korzeniowski where he talks about W.E. and A Single Man.

http://vimeo.com/33770937

I'm eagerly waiting for his next project after Penny Dreadful, which hopefully won't take long.

Zaku: I did feel that his music for the latest "Romeo And Juliet" was very good, although he was hampered by some of the least effective acting I've ever seen in a film based on a Shakespeare play. I'm glad I bought the soundtrack CD, and while I don't feel that it's in the same class as his music for "A Single Man" and "W.E.," I still like it. And thanks for the link to the interview!!!
