KON-TIKI just beat the record for the most-viewed Norwegian film during an opening weekend. 155 000 went to see it, which is about 25 000 more than the previous film, MAX MANUS (coincidentally also by the same two directors). Small numbers in international scales, maybe, but huge in Norway for a domestic production.
Just listened to it. Nice work, in spite of the rather noisy surroundings.
He seems like a very cool and talkative guy. Peculiar to hear a film music interview in norwegian/swedish, after years of interviews in american/english.
Yeah, sorry about the background noise. I tried to boost the volume of his voice a bit (since it was very low), but then you got all the breakfast guests boosting up as well.
Watched ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE earlier today and the score is just lovely. Probably the closest to rom-com scoring Soderqvist has ever been to, but the score is quite amazing - piano, lot of string instruments, cemballo... all backed up by (mostly strings) orchestra and a few variations on "La Paloma" ...amazing stuff...
He's still working on it. He was in the mixing stage when I talked to him about a month ago or so. Maybe it's been put on hold while he's finishing up the next Susanne Bier movie.
IndieWire.com reports the Weinstein Bros. have picked up KON-TIKI for US release. No date is mentioned other than sometime in 2013. The article also states that the film is the official Norwegian entry for the foreign language Academy Award. That doesn't guarantee a nomination, but it doesn't seem like much of a stretch.
EDIT: The music samples used in the FX breakdown reel are great! I'm really hoping for a CD release as I will definitely want this score!
It was mentioned in recent FSMO interview... and all details about it sound quite awesome and I can't wait to have it... here is a few clips from the score, as well as ton of his others... I only hope that KING OF DEVIL'S ISLAND and LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED will follow soon too.
