FACE LIKE A FROG is a short animated film - so the piece included in "Music for a Darkened Theatre" may well be the complete score. If it is not the complete score, what's left out is probably not imperitive listening.

It's actually not the complete score. There's a little bit of music and an original Elfman song that you can only hear in the original short. Luckily, it's on YouTube with the full participation and consent of the original creator:

riotengine, the SLEDGEHAMMER theme has actually been released (on one of those TNT TV compilations), and it's the only thing he did for that show. So that's covered.

As for FACE LIKE A FROG, the video posted above shows it has some more music....including the Mystic Knights song. The whole thing is only 5 minutes, so it could easily work in a C&C arrangement. An extended suite, if you will. But I agree, it's far from the most pressing release.

Was that song actually written for the short? I had a live version one point on a Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo, um, "shmoot-shmeg." I was under the impression that it was a song from his old Mystic Knights act that he adapted for the cartoon.

Honestly, I'd actually be more interested in unreleased Oingo Boing/Mystic Knights material at this point. Elfman is still my favorite composer, but most of my favorites of his have had more-or-less satisfactory releases at this point. I would however, kill to have Rabbit in Rouge and The Overeager Overture released in some form.

That is correct. He adapted "Don't Go in the Basement" for the film.

I have pretty much everything -- including the bootleg stuff -- but yeah, much of it should get a more official release. Like the gamelan piece he did in the 70s, a pure instrumental which almost sounds like a precursor to his more recent concert works. It's a literal treasure trove of material....so much that I felt it was beyond the scope of this thread. But I'm game for some Boingo talk! smile

YOR is entitled to his opinions. Isn't it a "discussion board"?

Me too. There are still a few releases I missed that are long OOP. I'd like to own. As well as unreleased material.

I agree. I saw that a while back on YT. This looked like something from Forbidden Zone.

YOR is entitled to opinions. It is when YOR push contrary opinions repeatedly like broken record in threads with positive intent that YOR annoy people. DAVE just want YOR to be less annoying when others try to have friendly happy talk. DAVE thank YOR for YOR's cooperation.

LOL, just the way I talk to the 6 year-olds where I work. I'll go look for Yor next time I'm there.

This is quite amusing.

YOR oppened several threads on this board and in ALL of them people jumped in and tried to piss on YOR's leg or attacked him with nasty name calling. The moderator of this board never slap their hands, even if 90% of the name calling was done by the same people.

YOR didn't complain in any case, just laugh.

Maybe moderator is angry with YOR because Thor, the swedish child, is somekind of FSM board's sensible puppy and can't be molested with opinions he can't stand.

In any case, very amusing, yes?

It is not amusing. Giacchino-Fan thinks that Yor is interesting, but can be insulting for no reason. Insults hurt feelings. Yor said "It's Elfman. Who really cares?" This is being a meany to people who like Elfman. Moderator is probably bugged with you because you seem to come in to threads you have no interest in (like this one) just to act like a bootyhole. Please voice opinions in a nice way. Opinions are different than truth, by the way.

YOR is not a saint.

He likes to insult too, just like most of the other members here.

But he is the only one who got slaps in the hand by moderator dude.

Very strange, yes?

Yor is not the only one. That is silly to say. G-F has seen Moderator tell others to stop fighting. Yor was just the only one in this thread.

YOR had much pterodactyl-poo flung at him in other threads, often having nothing to do with the topics but everything to do with the way YOR expresses self. Ock think YOR entitled to bit of leniency here*.

Ock just sayin'.
(Ock not want pterodactyl-poo flung at self. Not pleasing taste.)

Ock apologize for off-topic.

(ETA: *Leniency only in defence of his style of expression. NOT in his references to Thor. Those were ill-considered, in my opinion.)

YOR I don't think any of us has a problem with you thinking Elfman is lukewarm, lots of people here feel the same or just can't stand him. the problem I think David S had is that you felt it necessary to come in this thread to remind us once again how you feel about the composer. the whole dead horse and beating thing

I agree that there are better composers out there with unreleased music that would be great to have, but this is a thread made for Elfman and his unreleased stuff not other composers you feel deserve it more.
