To each it's own but what nut job is comparing some fly by night hack like moroder to GOLDSMITH,yeah right my grandmother sang better then Mario Lanza, and don't you know Bobby Murcer was a better hitter then Babe Ruth, how far can one stretch the statement to each one's own, as someone said last week, anybody can say anything but does that make it right. Because people have different TASTE, goddammit. How hard can it be. There is no such thing as RIGHT and WRONG taste. Deal with it and move on.

Looks like a Varese CD is on the way for November. https://www.soundtrack.net/movie/thief-of-hearts/ Great news! I actually only have the 84 album on a CDR, so I will surely buy this. Of course hoping for additional material and good liner notes!

HF said on FB that he didn't know anything about the forthcoming Varese release...

Great! I guess it will happen then. But looks like Varese haven't talked to HF for the liner notes, which I find odd.

Don't look for this to be an expanded issue featuring the score. That's not Varese Sarabande's MO these days. (The rare exception being BAREFOOT IN THE PARK.) A shame because I'm sure another label would have done this as an expanded score release if they had gotten to it first. I do know there will be some 12" single mixes added but that's it. James Does this mean that you think (or possibly know) it'll simply be a reissue of the already existing soundtrack? In other words, no new Faltermeyer cuts? If true, that's a bummer.

Oh well, it's better than nothing. I don't even know how much score there is in the movie that is not on the album. Probably not too much. Haven't seen the film in years.

Perhaps, but I suspect there is more than has already been published. Too bad HF keeps getting overlooked and underused; he seems a more than willing participant.

Complete score or VA album reprint ?

Fuck, it's just a reprint: Re-issue of the classic 1984 album including songs "Thief Of Hearts" by Melissa Manchester, "Tear Me Up" by Darwun Hastings and three more classic songs along with five score tracks by legendary composer Harold Faltermeyer.

Pass. Maybe I'd buy it if there was more HF. The music works a lot better with the movie than apart from it. I think the music works like gangbusters on the album too. Let's hope for some liner notes at least. Seems like the release date is now December 8.

I adore TD and Hammer. I don't know the works of Goblin/Simonetti/Frizzi at all. Carpenter is decent.
