One that has not gotten a mention here that I think is certainly one of my favorites is EXTREME MEASURES. I love the action scores like Batman and Spider Man, but the ones I play most often are his quieter melancholy scores like Measures, Sommersby, and Dolores Claiborne. I think I am going to say Dolores is my favorite so I can say I picked one, but there are about 10 others that could replace it if I you ask me weeks from now. I'm like you. In recent years, I've veered more and more towards his calmer, "alternative" material and not so much the big and rambunctious stuff. It has to do with a change of taste in general. I got more pleasure out of stuff like PROMISED LAND, RESTLESS and SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK last year than I did MEN IN BLACK 3, FRANKENWEENIE and DARK SHADOWS (even though I liked the latter two quite a bit too). However, while I think EXTREME MEASURES is an interesting score in the film, it's not one that I play very often on album.

I love BIG FISH too! It's a great score. It's very hard to pick ONE favourite amongst Elfman's output. The guy has quite a few different styles and voices, although he always retains his unique, individual voice.

Batman Returns with Edward Scissorhands coming in a very close second.

I'm surprised there isn't more love for 'Big Fish', as I mentioned earlier. Is it just me...? No, a superb score for one of Burton's very best films. A must-have. Have to admit I wasn't familiar with score or film but have now ordered both after hearing a suite at the Royal Albert Hall concert of Elfman music for the films of Tim Burton, earlier this month. A gorgeous score, for sure.

A gorgeous score, for sure. For the same reasoning as you Peter, I'm starting to have a big crush on Alice in Wonderland. And I say that as someone who hasn't seen the film and only has a half interest in doing so. It's definitely the effect of the RAH and then Leeds where it really started to kick in. Otherwise I'd say Batman. In my opinion his theme should have been kept, if only as a signature like the Bond and Harry Potter franchises, for all future Batman films so iconic do I think it is. But I also love that 50s throwback sound of Mars Attacks!

I'll never forget seeing EDWARD SCISSORHANDS in the theatre for the first time. The score absolutely knocked my socks off...it really is a perfect score and fits the film like a glove. Elfman has done some great stuff but this is hands down my #1 of his scores. I would also say EDWARD SCISSORHANDS. I did not see it in the theater because I was too young. But, seeing it on DVD in our home movie theater it did blow me away.
