WOW!!! eek

When I first saw the title thread my jaw dropped and my heart
skipped a beat! I've been waiting for this score since before
I was born. smile Bruce, can you reserve me a LAURA until the
25th? I'm afraid this baby will be quick sellout. If it isn't,
I'll be very disappointed in the human race.

THANKYOU!

Den

After listening to the samples a few times I'm just not sure I really feel the need for this full score. I have two delightful re-recordings of the main theme (Gerhardt and Bernas RPO) and this isn't making me want to jump on the full score. Maybe I'll change my mind after getting better acquainted with the samples and my existing suites.

This is real classy stuff. I am not really into Golden Age film music but I don't think I can stay away from this one. It's good to see great scores like Laura released on CD once again.

Trying to explore new composers to me I also try the samples, but I am not moved. I guess that is word I try to say. I have Gerhardt recording and like the theme just do not know if need full score. Big score for many people I guess.

Laura is in a class by itself.

I think a lot of what causes the love for Laura is knowledge of the film and how the music functions in it. Once you've seen the film, there really is no staying away from it or the music - the suites are fine, but, for Laura lovers, we want it all.

Absolutely.

Clifton, I believe, would have approved, Monsieur K.

I think this one will ship very early, maybe even by the end of next week.

Posted this back a few pages... seems like a ton of interest, and I hope the units are flying away.

Julie Kirgo for her wonderful liner notes

No Haines liner notes? Are your thoughts for Laura on the KR web page at least?

Bruce, what were the original source elements used?

Julie really wanted to do this one and I love Julie and her notes, so it was nice to take a break. smile

My thoughts on Laura on in the press release after the first few lines.

That's a question for Mike M - who will hopefully see it.

Amen. I'm very happy to hear she's selling quickly, too!
I absolutely ADORE this film, being the noir lover that I am.
But LAURA has a special hypnotic magic that's simply
hard to describe. It certainly doesn't hurt that Gene Tierney,
one of the most ravishingly beautiful ladies to ever grace the
silver screen, is the star. Also not difficult to understand
why Dana Andrews falls in love her through her portrait.
The film and David Raksin's score are masterpieces.

Bruce, you once posted that you knew who had SEPARATE TABLES. That would really be a coup. Any chance of that ?

Perhaps I missed Bruce's reply to this question... Is SEPARATE TABLES in the pipeline, by any chance?

LAURA has been ordered - thanks Bruce!

I would do any Raksin and we've got more coming.

I'd love it if you'd consider THE BIG COMBO, but who knows if it still exists...

The main and end titles were recently found in Raksin's archive - Jon Burlingame used them in his centennial tribute last year. I'd be delighted just to get that at the end of another CD. But if you were to find the entire score, I'd be dancing a jig myself.

This is a score that Marilee Bradford loves - I'd inquired about it long ago from MGM, but they had no elements. Marilee apparently has access but I think she's really wanting to do it for her FMS thing.
