Thor, That's too bad. It certainly won't be tough to unload your tickets. To the guy who said:" TO THOR- boston is AMATEUR NIGHT COMPARE TO NEW York, DON'T LISTEN TO THOSE other guys,if you look up the population on the computer it states over 600,000 people, if they want to talk about outer population and add that on, then you can do that with New York City and you will have hundred's of thousands more as well.Boston is like a fleeting affair, no depth, How can you even compare Boston to New York is crazy." That's like saying Dallas is way bigger than Venice Italy. Size doesn't matter. I've lived in NYC for almost a decade and it is so subpar in so many ways I can't begin to list the ways. For the purposes of this board, isn't the most resounding endorsement from John Williams himself, born in NYC, who goes to Boston every year and loves it. It's smaller yes. But for anyone with any value for history, architecture, charm, quality of life, the best universities and hospitals in the world and an influx of half a million students I can't imagine why anyone not 23 or a multi millionaire would choose to live in New York.

Sorry to hear that. I hope someday you will get to see the big apple. I know it is to late now since you cancelled the trip, but in the back of my head I was thinking since you have been a stable here for so many years and so many know you here. If everyone of your friends here send you, say $10.00, would that have helped. I mean it is a John Williams concert. I would throw $20.00 your way. That would not break me or I am sure many others here. I mean people here don't always agree with each other but there is a connection here with all of us. You know love and war and all that stuff. LOL

It's too bad you never tried out the youth hostel option, Thor, when you were trying to go to your John Williams concert. I was just there, and it was $50 a night and very, very modern and spiffy. The wi-fi was free, and there were cute young ladies everywhere. Oh, and John Williams himself was sleeping in the bunk below me. I introduced myself and we talked film music for simply HOURS. He whipped out some score paper and took down some musical suggestions I had for him. Whatta guy!

Stefancos and two other JWFanners stayed in a newly-built hostel in Boston that was easy to get to everything, clean and nice, and very reasonably priced. Would have more than suited Thor's needs, its a shame he didn't come and meet us all.

Hmmm....oh well. You DID have to share a room, though, didn't you, David? Mais, oui! That's what hostels are about! Sharing bedspace with 5 young men who are always walking into the room shirtless, still pink from the shower. But I can see where this would not hold the same appeal for you... I think private rooms in that hostel start at something like $150 or $195. But it IS for only a few nights, Thor. And JW is past age 80 now and soon to retire.

Well, my sister lives in Lexington (suburb of Boston), but this thread is making me uncomfortable, so sorry, no help here.

Thor: It's possible that this, in your profile, scared away some offers of assistance: Over these last couple of years, I've almost stopped buying soundtracks (except for completist reasons) and used my skimpy financial resources on social activity (read: booze) instead. But my interest has not really faded, so I aim to pick up the buying activity eventually. Sometimes one can be too honest for your own good! Best of luck. Don't need to remind you, being from Norway, to dress warm! And this really SHOULD have been moved to Non-Film Score Discussions.
