It's not done, for sure! At least one long requested 90's title is getting the Deluxe Treatment. I knew about Die Hard 2 a few months before it was announced. Wish I could divulge more, but would rather not be cut off from people more in the know.

We'll just have to be patient, but be warned:save your pennies.

So when are these mythnical Club CD's going to be released?? Tell, Tell

Might be coincidence, but I think I've noticed SPIES LIKE US has been appearing more in the listings recently. Perhaps an Encore Edition is coming?

Not too far from a year since the last releases. Looking forward to the next batch.

They have not been that dazzling in a while to me, and VS discs are always so short.

Not only short but several releases have been overruled by other lables offering an overall better quality product like; Die Hard and Predator, that seems it makes this lable a bit obsolete in a some way. However they had some great releases over the years that no other lable was able to bring on the market.

Oh yeah, they were the label that woke me to film scores when I went looking, at those darn odd long boxes in the maroon like color. I just think they have been eclipsed by La La Land and Intrada as far as the detail, breadth, number and value of the releases. I think that these other labels have more of a complete focus on scores, whereas it seems VS has concerns with other things. VS also does re-releases where very little is added, exceptions that were pretty good with Runaway and Total Recall of course, but those were some time back.

When the dust settles Varese will still be standing. If the rumors are true they have some truly incredible product in line for the future. Consider this the lull before the storm. wink

I am a little concerned too. First we find many of their older titles last year for $4 in Family Dollar stores, then we are told that the company has been sold and then titles start to show up on their website on sale? They have to be cleaning out the warehouses. It has been almost a year since any new Club releases. Are they not able to compete with the other labels that are re-releasing and expanding scores? Time will tell. Didn't someone post here that the Club is not done, that it was just on hold because Townsend was working on the concerts?

Don't get me wrong Varese is the label that got me started to collect and appreciate soundtracks in the early days. Only the competition is very strong lately i hope they will find a way to survive this.

I hope they will release all the titles they have held up for years. Then let the other labels take over the job of releasing titles. I am pretty sure labels like Kritzerland and Intrada can release their titles within a year of getting the rights to them. The soundtrack aficianado shouldn't have to wait 5 years for a certain release. Varese is much too slow.

I don't know if this has anything to do with that... but wouldn't next year have been a certain composer's 85th birthday? smile

Any soundtrackers from the 60s-70s wanna field this one?

I hope they will have encore releases of first batch club titles like Fedora/Crisis, Raggedy Man, Vibes, Jagged Edge, We're No Angels, etc. We did get The Burbs in expanded form some time ago and Eye Of The Needle with no extra music. I don't think we got more than that as far as club rereleases. La La must know something he's not telling us. I share his optimism.

THE LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER will make me very happy. They have been sitting on it for years.

Considering the buy out I would not count on them for much. Intrada and La La Land are, so far, independent labels, therefore more safe from corporate bean counting for what is 'profitable'. And I am sure a good many scores are just not that profitable from what Lukas Kendal said before. So from that point of view a business might not be that interested in pushing out more VS titles that make little or nothing.

That's a good point. Varese got bought by CuttingEdge, right? Surely that has changed how they operate.

Just give us the scores they signed for, in some cases, many years ago and then they can close the club and leave that part of the business to Intrada, Kritzerland, Lalaland and Quartet. To be more specific, it's time for the long overdue THE LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER.

IMHO, I believe the Club is dead. I hope I'm wrong, but I've not seen
    any evidence to the contrary.
