Why does anybody feel it a mystery that a song written for and featured prominently in a movie would appear on its soundtrack release?

In my original post I did not know her song was in the video. (I have not seen the film) Then I took note of her name being prominently placed on the cover under McNeely's which I thought was odd for an Intrada release. As I said the majority of Intrada's customer base are the score fans not the pop culture fans. In the end no big deal.

While it's extremely unlikely I will ever watch the film, I'm pleased to say that I don't let the film get in the way of my enjoyment of a good score - and from the samples this is a good score.
Thanks Intrada for releasing this one. Ordered.

Also picked up the John Williams duo which is going out of print.

Received this today in the mail. What a great release! Seriously, it's some of the best music to come out of Disney in a long time. Highly recommended. Bring on the next 3!!!

Somehow the announcement passed right over my head, but I saw this thread, checked out the clips and had to order it. I really love his music for SQUANTO too -- hey, this guy's pretty good! He hardly gets a mention around here it seems. Thanks for the heads up and the comments.

A lot of his music hasn't been released. Especially his work for Disney direct to video animated fare. I highly recommend "Return To Neverland."

Finally received my copy, great score of course. smile But I just noticed the 7 minute suite from the song album is not on here. It can be purchased as a stand alone cue from iTunes and Amazon. Also I heard some sound effects, generally some forest critters. Was that done musically or are they sound effects? They are extremely brief and minimal and don't take away from the listening experience. If anything they add a little bit of charm. The surprise for me was the song by Loreena McKennitt. It works really well within the score.

Read the liner notes-- McNeely writes, "If you listen carefully you will hear frogs, birds, crickets, whales, water droplets, wood logs and many more sounds used as musical elements in this score."

As for the suite from the song album, there was no need to include it on this cd... all of the components of the suite are present in other tracks.

Ah thanks. I started to read the notes, but got distracted listening to the score. wink The suite is its own composition and I do wish they included it. But as I said, no biggy, it can be had other ways.

Edit: Anyone know about this? It lists three unreleased McNeely cues. But I can't find it on Amazon or iTunes.

I was wondering the same thing earlier this year and came to the conclusion that it never got released. It has never appeared on Amazon for example as far as I know. Maybe Intrada came to the rescue? wink

Your assumption is probably correct. At least we know a lot more is coming. We just have to be patient I guess. smile
