Clip with score

https://www.berlinale.de/en/programm/berlinale_programm/datenblatt.php?film_id=201508077#tab=video25

I don´t like the trailers at all.

But this clip from the film with the actual score... yes! That´s very nice.

I'm looking forward to this score. I hope it's a return to the earlier Patrick Doyle material and very thematic.

The sets and costumes look nice. But the actors look all wrong for their parts. The CGI looks terrible which is typical of a Disney film like this. Hoping for a great score!

Why is everything so grey and muddy?

Reviews from the Berlin Film Fest screening are coming in:

From The Hollywood Reporter's review:

Pacing might be a tad leisurely for the youngest audience members here and there, but adults will appreciate the grace and wit of this adaptation. Patrick Doyle's lush score augments the excitement, sadness or romance as required. And in a pleasing nod to the 1950 Disney film, James and Bonham Carter resurrect songs from that version, "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo," respectively, over the end credits. The former becomes a soaring waltz, which effectively distils the tone of this new Cinderella.

And from Variety's review:

So intense is the young maiden’s yearning that the movie practically begs for a big, showstopping “I Want” song — or better yet, a liberated alternative, a la “Frozen’s” “Let It Go” — but Branagh seems woefully unwilling to introduce song into his “Cinderella,” save for the “Lavender’s Blue” nursery rhyme Ella’s mother teaches her in the pic’s opening moments (which all-too-tentatively comes around at the pic’s climax). Although the most appropriate way to reinvent the Disney toon might have been as a full-blown tuner, Branagh relegates musical expression to the background, where his longtime composer Patrick Doyle (dating back to “Henry V”) comes to the rescue with a robust, fully orchestrated score — a defining contribution, adding more to the project’s sense of timelessness than any other artistic element.

Excited to see the reviews noticing the score and not complaining about that fact for once. I figured fantasy would be the one genre in which Doyle would be allowed to remain his 90s, lush thematic self. Cannot WAIT for the score, and as a Branagh fan since Hener V, for the film too, which is getting strong reviews too, especially for Blanchett's performance.

Those reviews seem to confirm that the trailers do a very bad job of representing the actual quality of the movie.

And another Doyle/Branagh-collaboration always gets my thumbs up!

Didn't realize this was another four weeks off. This could be the score of the year and it's only February!

My alternate cover art for iTunes. Not a fan of the one they're using. I am however looking forward to hearing another Doyle score for a Branagh film.

That's better, but still why the dark and gloomy sky? How about a beautiful star lit night?
Edit: They Photoshopped that thin waistline on her, right? eek

Maybe, but it could also be something natural. It has to do with the angle the picture is taken from. Google Ainsley Rodriguez or Michelle Lewin.

Back on topic, I like the front cover and I'm really looking forward to this score. Doyle's one of my favorites.

I saw the finished film a couple of weeks ago and can confirm it's Doyle's best score in ages, lovely themes. His fans are certainly not going to be disappointed, can't wait to get the album. It also had a very favourable place in the sound mix.

Good to know something good can come out of these remake(s).

Poor Kenneth Branagh... the thins he needs to do these days to keep alive.
But new Doyle's music is always welcome!
