I don't reckon the blue is relevant. Now there was all that trekking eskimo albatross bovine stuff, which leads up a certain tree, but I mean, why should the colour be directly symbolic?

Blue ... equals

(a) sea, navy
(b) sky, air-force
(c) Virgin Mary, the feminine
(d) rational intellect
(e) ice cold
(f) Union soldiers
(g) cyanosis
(h) the 'satanic mercurius' in alchemy
(i) cool relaxants
(j) non-chromatic jazz intervals
(h) old pornography
(i) sad Delta music
(j) certain cheeses
(k) environmentally clean beaches
(h) ancient Tyrian royal dyes
(i) alleged ghostly emanations
(j) alleged auras
(k) idealistic eye-colour
(l) very hot temper
(m) Celtic woad
(n) lapis lazuli
(o) bruising
(p) venous blood-supply
(q) melancholy
(r) various liqueur cocktails
(s) toothpaste and spearmint and fluoride
(t) fish-vans and refrigerators
(u) whizzkid sellers on eBay
(v) various national flags
(w) turquoise and various gemstones
(x) police
(y) the Tory party
(z) skilled workers' collars
(z2) alkalines

So it's clear then.

Yes.

Thanks for making everything so clear,
I thought I was never going to figure it out!!!

Even though the colors RED and BLUE are my favorite colors... a seperate GOLD colored and SILVER colored box would look nice.

I wonder what film scores can be included inside these?

PINK... out of the question!...

Unless FSM decides to release some XXX film score music from the 60's/70's...

I guess these would be considered 'Silver Age' film scores.

big grin

Okay, I haven't read this whole thread, but-- They still haven't told us? When is the announcement expected? I finally feel emotionally prepared, and I'm ready to hear it.

As I understand it, there should (hopefully) be an announcment early January.

How about this for a guess:

A box set of classic WB films, maybe swashbuckler films, with THE SEA HAWK as the beloved score mentioned. Has this been guessed somewhere in the million posts on this thread?

There seem to me various factors that make the WB swashbucklers LESS likely, good though it'd be:

(a) such a compilation would contain more than ONE 'beloved score'. Unless it would be 'Captain Blood' which has always been blocked by considerations about the Liszt from his estate, and is 'special' and thought unobtainable.

(b) How many such scores would there be? They aren't by any means all 'nautical' so where's the 'blue' link?

(c) Such titles would really all be commercially safe enough as individual releases.

(d) In the Bernstein case, there were good stereo recordings. If it were a 'showcase' box, that might be a consideration. Then again, for collectors, maybe not. It could be a case of, 'These old Warners things are great saleable releases, and will replace all the boots, but let's not have a long string of issues that don't necessarily show off our audiophile skills over a long period: let's get them all in one box.'

(e) There's that Williams thing: what WAS in the pipeline there, or did it need postponing?

(f) Why would there be a 'necessity' to release such things together? The 'Kings Row'/'Sea Wolf' CD came separately, so clearly not.

On the other hand, the two Korngolds released already were NOT 'swashbucklers' ... that could be an implication for it. But then again ... so MANY 'Sea Hawks' at once? Would the Naxos and Chandos generate interest in the OST or would they mop up the market for a time?

Apart from the 'Albatross' I don't see a great link conceptually, linguistically or symbolically to the 'clue', if clue it actually is. It does lead in a certain direction, but I'm not saying.

Lukas, I have a fantasy of you sitting back for the holidays and chuckling, "if this clueless bunch of beggars only knew!"

Have a great holiday season, and know that many of us are forever thankful that you guys live to keep us happy and guessing.

Here's another crumb from Lukas in the other current "box" thread, for what it's worth:

"The Bernstein box packaging is great, we are all pleased with it . . . and we have reused it for the Blue Box because the Blue Box has high-profile stuff."

. . . Just stirrin' the pot.

High-profile, now that is intriguing.

What does "High-Profile" mean?

Does it mean pooular with us the collector?

Or boes it mean popular with just about anybody who goes to the movies?

Very interesting...very, very interesting....

... and he launched a discussion regarding the packaging for the next box after that.
Howcome there's not a guessing thread for that future new one yet?

I would say this information adds nothing new to our discussion and suggestions here.

Okay this is just one fanboy's dream box set but here goes:

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (original album remastered)
RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (complete score)
TEMPLE OF DOOM (original album remastered)
TEMPLE OF DOOM (2-disc complete score)
LAST CRUSADE (original album remastered)
LAST CRUSADE (2-disc complete score)

That's 8 discs, I believe. A lovely dream. Potentially a nightmare for our friend Thor.

Not really, coz I'll gladly avoid such a box without thinking too much about it. If, however, the box contains UNRELEASED Williams scores, THEN I'll have a nightmare (what with my limited finances and everything).

I don't think it's anything new or new'ish like Indiana Jones as FSM releases OLDER things like the 1970's or older. I could be wrong, but I don't know if they have released anything from the 1980's for some reason.
