How fast did the X-files box sets sell out? I don't remember, but they sold well enough that not only were two more volumes made (with a fourth volume on the way, apparently), but the Vol. 1 release was even reissued! Yavar

Btw, my box set is now in Germany! Can someone pick it up and send it via DHL?? I feel like that would probably only delay your shipment? IDK. My Magic Box is probably still in customs. There haven't been any updates in two days. Even though I am a MAJOR lover of BUFFY (owner of s.1-3 on dvd) I didn't realize there was so much pent up demand for score releases! Honestly, it doesn't surprise me. The Buffy fandom is one of the most passionate out there. However, what does surprise me is that we are unable to compete with The X-Files so far. Come on, the truth might be out there, but we must be slaying it. But then again, in the US alone, Buffy never had the 20 million viewers that the X-Files had (+ the second movie and event series have brought X-Files back into the public eye). Just retweeted LLL's tweet to Joss Whedon - he's got 218K followers - we'll see if it gets any attention. Yeah, Joss mostly tweets about politics these days, did he even tweet anything about Buffy's 20th Anniversary last year? I don't remember it.

I bought the set. But honestly, I'm surprised LLL took a chance on this. Buffy has its fanbase, but not really so much in 2018. And most people don't remember the music, even the people who watched it, only real die hard fans. I am kind of offended by the bold exclamation that there is no Buffy fandom in 2018. I think this thread shows the opposite, the comics that even some Buffy diehards like me don't follow still exist and there was also plenty of 20th Anniversary coverage last year, which wouldn't have happened if there had not been an audience for it. But then again, I think the show has probably not added a lot of new eyeballs through repeats and streaming since it went off the air, like Gilmore Girls did. The Whedon scandal may have turned some fans off it too, and since there hasn't really been anything new Buffy-related, fans probably don't mobilize as quickly as they used to.

I've been reading the liner notes, and when first skimming through it it didn't appear to have comments on track edits or comparisons with previously released versions -- I thought it was 100% discussion of instruments used, themes, and what was happening in the episode as the music played. However, I made a few interesting discoveries that I wanted to share with those who'd be interested and who haven't yet received their box. Comments by Randall D. Larson: "Close Your Eyes" S2E22 -- "This version of the theme is an edited arrangement that Beck put together as a performance piece, though it follows the essential sequence of what is heard in the episode." I guess that explains the alternate string pitch at the beginning compared to the previously released version, and the fact that the piano sounds different towards the middle. "Loneliness of Six" S3E08 -- "This edit, by the composer, combines two non-consecutive cues: "A Friend's Advice" (a string variation of the Angel/Buffy love theme as they discuss Buffy's college options early in Act 2), and "Willow and Xander Kiss" (reprising the short-lived Willow/Xander love theme introduced in episode six)." So that explains why the opening is different than the episode edit. But I am confused about the "Willow/Xander love theme introduced in episode six" -- S206, or S306? When did it appear before? I remember it appearing in "Smashing the Bones" as a piano melody (if that is in fact the Willow/Xander love theme) but that wasn't ep. 6, it was ep. 1 from S2. Really enjoying Larson's writing and I hate to complain about anything, honestly, but I have to say I really don't care for the opening introduction by Mark A. Altman on the show itself and its legacy. He's certainly an authority on the matter, but his writing here is just not for me...he's determined to be quippy and witty and clever every single chance he can possibly get. It's distracting and a bit irritating, as though he's a bit too in love with his writing. Cut the jokes and get back to discussing the show, methinks. He says at one point early on, "But, not unlike Vargas on the receiving end of a spear gun from 007, you get the point (or Mr. Pointy, in this case)." A lot of his writing only exists here to make him seem funny, not to discuss things of substantive value. I'm sure some people will enjoy the intro and its whimsical nature, but it's definitely not to my taste.

Two 4-CD volumes of Buffy and one 4 CD volume of Angel would already satisfy me, I think. But who am I kidding, the Buffy collection that LLR released is already more than I could have ever hoped for, especially now that the show has been off the air for so long. --- This is exactly how I feel as well! One more Buffy volume. Which would mean ALL NEW score which has NEVER been available before. Since all the previous available stuff was also included in this one. And one Angel box set would be enough for me (of course I`d take the complete show score if that was the case ) However, I made a few interesting discoveries that I wanted to share with those who'd be interested and who haven't yet received their box. Comments by Randall D. Larson Thanks for sharing. I am really excited to read those notes myself. I love when they include some information on the music. They did that for "Once more with Feeling", "Angel: Live Fast, Die Never" and "Radio Sunnydale" too, but I don't think the score soundtrack from 2008 had a nice booklet. Looks like my box won't arrive today either. Tracking also continues to not be updated. Very exhausting for someone as impatient as me. ---- I am also super excited about the booklet! I usually dont read books because I cant concentrate too much with long texts (my thoughts are all over the place, all the time, lol), but this one I know I will enjoy! Listening to Buffy score is really the only thing that calms my mind down a few notches. I just got update about my box. It just arrived to Norway!! Now let`s see how long time the customs are gonna spend listening through all the cues before they pass it on to me....IF they dont keep it themselves that is..
