I had another great lunch with Bjarte yesterday, as he was visiting Oslo (sorry again for being hung over, man!).

It also made me want to ressurect this thread again, as there must be A LOT of new encounters since the last time, what with the FSM gathering and everything. Any more stories to share?

Since Thor has brought this thread top of mind once again, let me ask if there are any FSM posters
who live within striking distance of Milwaukee, Wisconsin?

A few years back, I blew my chance to meet Reed Birney in Chicago when he was doing a play
there. Sorry, Reed, I must have been in a lazy funk back then.

In deed. I never thought that I'd meet anyone from the board, but now that I'm counting I've met quite a couple of them despite being located at a completely random point in the met.

I've met Doug Raynes at Prague when both of us hung out at the El Cid recording sessions. Those were two remarkable days for me.

I've met both Fitzpatricks (John and James) too - I had a lunch with John when he was attending a Rózsa concert and with James at the aforementioned El Cid sessions.

I've just recently met with ahem who visited my city too. It was fun exchanging soundtrack trivia over two glasses of milk shakes and we also took some photos. (please, don't post them, we look ridiculous!)

If anyone comes in shouting distance, let me know!

seems to me that with FSM people posting a lot from USA, why should you guys have all the fun and all the get-togethers?

what FSMers in the UK should do is arrange a night out and meet up?

Should be enough for a decent crowd.

I would suspect we will be okay for Morriconians, and Jerryistas, and probably if the John Barry 7 turn up, we've got a big night out?

Met lots of folks during this year's FSM weekend. Too many to name, but I will mention I went to dinner and to Amoeba Music with Josh & Holly Mitchell (formerly known as American Nightmare & Mrs. American Nightmare), Peter "drivingmissdaisy" Hackman and David "DavidinBerkeley" Vasquez.

Love that picture, Mark! If only the FSM board always had that jolly mood! smile

I met Mark Ford in Houston during a brief trip there a couple months ago.

Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the big FSM meet in LA but I'm up for an East Coast shindig.

And where might you be?

The last personal encounter with an FSMer was my thrid meeting with good ol' Odlicno, on his last flying visit to the UK. He kindly made time to squeeze a meeting into his busy schedule and we had coffee and beer in Manchester, as usual.

For once, nothing out of the ordinary occurred - no assaults by Aztec Nose Flute Bands or anything else. Just a blimmin' good chat about everything. Top bloke!

I think I've met a lot of you. I'm sure I have, in coffee shops and secondhand stores in San Francisco, L.A., Tokyo, Melbourne and Toronto, and you all loved film music as much as me, but I only know your real names. I have no idea who is posting here that I know, but using a handle I don't know.

For instance, Josh Mitchell, I know you're out there, but what is your username?

Now that I think about it, the only one of you that I've really met is Glenn.

Yep, Scott is the only person I've met outside of the FSM event. We had a nice dinner together the day he was here. Probably the first time in 30 years I got to talk film music in person with someone where I live. Thanks Scott!

I met Swashbuckler and Jim Ware (separately) during the events surrounding the Fellowship of the Ring concerts last weekend.
