In the mid 70s I had one night in NYC. (Actually 2 but our college wind ensemble was playing Towne Hall the second night.) A bunch of us decided dinner and show. Tickets were obtained from from the booth at Times Square. What a tough choice we had. Henry Fonda was doing Clarence Darrow. John Cullum was doing Shenandoah. Burton was appearing in Equus. Rocky Horror was playing, Rex Harrison was appearing in a show as well. The Grand Tour was running with Joel Grey. Despite all of those great shows, we headed off broasway to see Godspell. I loved that show, but when I look back....sigh...

I know exactly what you mean - when I think of the shows I missed when I lived in NY in 1969 - I saw some great ones, but I also missed some legendary stars, and some legendary flops, too. Oh, for a Time Machine right about now.

I think it's interesting that because they made these one to a customer almost immediately, that it was available longer to more people, and still they'll obviously sell out. Maybe that's the best way for online dealers from now on?

Haineshisway: Oh, for a Time Machine right about now.

I would loan you my Time Machine, but it's in the shop. I'll be picking it up a few months ago, if I can figure out how to do that.

Hey mr. Kimmel,

thank you for another exciting release.

However, I wondered about one thing: All of your releases proofed to be fast sellers with guaranteed sellouts. How come you still keep these low quantities well below 1500 units even on cult items such as that man from rio or twisted nerve?

Especially with the delerue score, the decision for the low quantity (which is even lower than twisted nerve) seems rather odd to me.

It's ultimately a business decision based on what I sell at our website. If that number were to sufficiently rise at some point (it's been very steady thus far), then maybe I'll be comfortable upping the number, but upping the number also ups the costs.

Anya is in glorious stereo.

Thanks. Any chance of you re-issuing
other cast recordings, like A DOLL's
LIFE, PRETTYBELLE, CRY FOR US ALL,
GOLDEN RAINBOW, WHAT MAKES SAMMY RUN?
Some of these were available on cd at
one time, but are now OOP. In the
case of the two Steve Lawrence shows,
I believe his own label released them
on cd in MONO.

None of those are feasible for us, although I'd love to do Cry For Us All. I remember inquiring about it back in the Bay Cities days, but no tapes could be found. Maybe I'll try to see who owns the Project 3 stuff now.

Wow! What a great score. I wasn't expecting the Herrmannesque action music. Sounds like a motif from Mysterious Island. The score is tuneful, bright and wistful to balance it out. Great production all around. Happy to see it arrive so quickly! Many thanks, Bruce.

I'm off to Rio again...

Glad they're arriving. I'm always thrilled when we get them a month ahead of the announced street date, although the street date is always just a precaution for us and we've never actually had to go down to that wire, thankfully. Glad you like it, and you're totally right about the Herrmann-esque quality of a few cues. It's one of my favorite Delerue scores.

This score is delightful. Exotic and melodic, bombastically 60's in places- it's a real treat. Thanks for it!

I just noticed that today is the anniverary of Delerue's death on Scott's Friday post. This is a nice way to remember him.

I really appreciate the fact that you encode the disc so the title and cue pop up on the screen of my in-dash cd player.

Like everyone else has said, a most enjoyable score by Delerue. Haven't seen the film since I was a kid, but never forgot the stuff where Belmondo is climbing that wall, or parachuting into the river with the alligators. I'd love to see it today in French.

A very exotic score and highly listenable at that.

I think they were just making sure that I didn't short them, as sometimes happens with other labels' limited editions that sell quickly. Grab it now because there's currently a copy on eBay going for over fifty bucks.
