Admittedly, I found this kind of a strange release given its the ... third incarnation of what is a great 80s score ... but its still a third time its been put to disc. Ah well, if a Poledouris CD is what I have to complain about, I guess life ain't so bad?
Intrada got my money for this one. I told myself I'd be good this month and put a little more money aside - but the turth is I ended up buying more CDs this month than I did in the previous four put together! God help me if its ID4 that comes out next week!
This has been a busy month for great releases. Let us hope this Robocop is indeed complete. I am going to buy ID4, and if the other title is Kamen's Robin Hood or something else I can not live without, I will get it too. I have not even bought any Goldsmith titles. I am in no way bashing Jerry. It is wonderful to see some other composers get some glory.
What do you mean "if"? Its been confirmed, reconfirmed, and then confirmed again that ID4 is coming out on Tuesday
I'm not reading the board as often as I use to. I'd rather listen to the music we talk about than read another droll, dull, recycled reply from Internet Person #3765784278001.
... those 42 seconds - could not think of it being longer
They are exactly 39" . But my fault: I said “Main Titles” but I am talking about the music located immediately before the main titles – while the "Orion" logo is developing. (http://www.divshare.com/download/11046988-d75)
I am sure this passage is missing on the new release.
I don't know about third dip, this is the FIFTH time I've bought ROBOCOP. Let's see: TER cassette, TER CD, Varese CD, Varese expanded and now Intrada. Yup it's THAT good! :-)
And yes, I guess we do need to hold on to at least one of the earlier incarnations for the full version of Across The Board as originally recorded.
20$ for less than 15 minutes of music... Nah, I think I'll keep that money for something else (for now).
Don't forget that in addition to the new music...
Intrada presents complete score in vibrant stereo, newly re-mixed and re-mastered from recently-discovered original 2" 24-track session masters plus 1" 8-track electronic session mixes, all stored in mint condition, courtesy MGM.
Listen to those samples. The original Varese CD sounded good, but now there are details in "Van Chase" I've never heard before.

I have to agree with this point. I was going to pass on the rerelease of Intrada's "Reanimator", but the samples blew me away so much so that I ordered it on the spot. After hearing the CD in it's entirety I knew I had made a good choice. The samples on this remastered "Robocop" are giving me the exact same vibe. They sound superb.
Also, I am IN LOVE with these sound samples now. ...
Me too, especially "OCP Monitors" - I imagine how cool it would be to be walking through the halls of a high-rise building on my way to an interview and hearing that track playing overhead.
Just got my copy... which helped relieve the pain of dropping a check in the mail to the IRS considerably.
Thus far, the clarity of the music is just amazing. Details that were submerged in previous editions are now crystal clear, especially the electronic elements. The score feels richer than ever. And it's great to finally have it in its entirety.
If you're a fan of this score, don't hesitate. It's like listening to LLL's release of EXTREME PREJUDICE. The remastering turns the score into a new experience. Again, thanks to Intrada for giving this score the deluxe treatment.
