Next stop: Star Trek V Expanded wink

Expanded IV first, then V. Four comes before five. big grin

The CD of Trek IV contains pretty much the entire score Rosenman wrote; he even bragged about it having the "shortest score for an SF blockbuster he could think of." It's about 35 minutes, and he claimed to have written 35 minutes of music.

Trek V, on the other hand...

Also...Trek I!

Are you kiddin' me?!?

Nope. Why should we go from III to V? I remember there being a fourth movie.

'cause we are talkin' 'bout the MUSIC!
STV is one of the best (imho THE BEST) scores in the series and would benefit from expansion.
STIV is my favorite FILM in the series, but i could care less abut the score

YES!!!

I imagined this would have been released in late July like Star Trek II's release last year, but... wow!

Gonna have to pair it up with either the Intrada titles later today, or the La-La Land titles tomorrow.

The first time I bought the OST was the original version but when I re-bought it a couple of years ago it ended up being the CD-R versions that GNP repressed.

And I still want to buy a copy of that for my collection

Anyone want to sell??

The defiant rendition of Horner's Trek theme in the "Stealing the Enterprise" cue is one of my favorite film music moments ever. The "call and answer" screaming horns leading up to that moment send a chill up my spine every time.

I used to drive around San Francisco blasting that piece from my car stereo, over and over again.

and now you can do it again - that's the beauty of it. wink

Well, it'll have to be Portland, since we no longer live in the SF Bay Area, but the sentiment's the same. :-)

oooo, drive through University Park neighborhood, so I can enjoy it too! please?

I'm gonna celebrate this event by watching ST IV - the only ST film i have on DVD :d big grin

A JOYFULLY CONTINUation of Part III which i have not seen

Hovever - and i don't know so much about it - i miss Kirk having sorrow of his death son (which first came in part 6 where we saw his anger about the klingons - but it could be that is also in part 3)

Thanks! I just ordered it.
But including the second disc is a waste, and inconsistent with the ST 2 release.

Give the man the cigar..

The First Fanboy bitchng about this release within Three minutes of the first posting.

It's the best of both worlds, if you liked the album version, you get it.

If you want to the expanded score, you get that...

And you only have to pay an additional $5.00 for the 2nd CD...

Not a bad deal for those of us wanting this sort of release for the last 26 years....

Ford A. Thaxton

Well said!

What are you fools talking about, I wasn't bitching I was just making a observation and stated a opinion. I'm very excited about this release in general. I like Star Trek 3 more than Star Trek 2 and I ordered my copy before the announcement was even posted here.

yeah, last time I checked this was a free message board, when anyone could share his opinion.

I also dont like the extra 5$ for a second CD I already have and I wouldnt want that with every expanded release to come as a trend. JUST THAT.

the "if you cant pay 25 then you cant pay 20" remark is amazing, specially considering these economically troubled days we are living.

anyway, wonderfull release, etc... Looking forward to STRAR TREK V EXPANDED release!! (with 2nd cd attached or not)

Ordered - many thanks, FSM!

Between this, the announcement that Tiomkin's CYRANO DE BERGERAC is coming, and the rumor that SPARTACUS may be released next week, my mind (and my wallet) is reeling!

Yes I would have rather used that extra $5 for shipping.

Ok, here's the thing.

Personally, I absolutely dislike the same exact music (that is to say, recording), more than once. A couple cues, it's not too bad (STII for instance, has one repeat in a full length CD, not TOO bad).
Put in the whole album, and I must really like it to want it. In the case of Wind and the Lion, for instance, it was already 2CDs to get everything. But FOR ME, personally, it makes it LESS likely I'll want to buy it.
Add a second disc with JUST the repeated, and jack up the price? Well that lessens my want to buy it even more.

I love STII, but III for whatever reason never quite drew me as much. So yes, between all three factors (repeated material, extra price, and "don't want it THAT much") I'm going to skip it. And I'm not bitching. I'm saying to whoever might be reading that, "see, this particular thing you did? It made you lose a customer on this item". Anyone who has a problem with that can do back to sucking on boots.

The message board shouldn't be a place for cheerleading all day, as I've said before.

Those who want this and wil enjoy it? Great. But don't chastise others for deciding what to do or not with their money.
