I actually like a lot of re-recordings. I would love to hear a Stromberg version of Spartacus in full glorious stereo and top notch recording quality. I think it's perfectly fine to have a sentimental attachment to a score, warts and all in some cases, but for a team to embark on painstakingly re-doing the original is not just admirable but logistically challenging on many levels to achieve. Something like this Conan project cannot be compared to a compilation CD which kind of plays out like a Pops concert of film scoring. This level of work is a credit to the art of film scoring, wherein it still adheres to a higher aesthetic than mere commerce. It's about preservation and respect towards these beloved scores. Whether you like the end product or not, you must respect the people involved in undertaking such a project.

One question: does the new CD include the cue where Conan is practicing his swordsmanship at night while (the one where Mako is narrating over it)? I always loved that cue and would die to hear it without the narration. It's a short cue to be sure but a memorable one. I couldn't find it on the track list on the website. Seconded. Maybe it is the track "PROLOGUE - Original Version" That would be super cool. I would buy it just for that track alone!

This recording is wonderful. I hope it isn't limited. (If you have any left when I order then send it to me. "If you don't then to hell with you!" -Conan) If I am able to add it to my collection, it won't replace the original score, but will live equally side-by-side with it! So... how about a special edition DVD, with Tadlow's new recording? Incidentally, if the original tapes ever show up, even if they've been chewed on by vultures, left as food for wolves, even cooked in soup by Thulsa Doom, I'd still buy a CD of the complete original score. Michael Edit: Wife gave the nod, and I threw in The Shakiest Gun in the West for fun.

I think people like Lukas, Douglas Fake, Robert Townson, MV or James Fitzpatrick sometimes wonder why they keep doing this because some of the guys here really are an ungrateful and whining bunch. We finally get all these legendary and fantastic scores (original or re-recorded and COMPLETE) and STILL they complain! Congratulations to everybody involved in this project, it's Basil's best score and it sounds ace! Keep'em coming! I don't think I've seen any complaints here, only people airing their preferences in relation to this particular announcement (whether they prefer originals over rerecordings or, in my case, prefer condensed album arrangements over C&C). Complaints - if there are any - could really only come about once the CD lands on people's doorsteps. I agree. Are we all here simply to say, "I love you, I love you, I love you!" Can't there be some ground for discussion that dosent turn into a flame war? Now some were hoping for the score "as it was heard in the film", not "as the composer intended". That's a valid comment. Rerecordings have there place. I Love Eric Kunzel's rerecordings of famous movie themes. I am sure this will be just as good an interpretation of the classic score. But it is (apparently) a new interpretation all the same.
