Now getting back to the score...I think this score is one of the most underrated of the films.

All I ask for is that the track liner notes be contained within the booklet and not having to be downloaded from the distributor's website.

I remember buying the Star Trek Insurrection CD in the store before the movie came out, literally a thing of the past now as there are virtually no more stores carrying soundtracks nearby , and listening in fascination as to what the movie would be about. I have to admit being a tad disappointed the movie didn't feature as menacing a villain as its predecessor but once I saw it in the theatre I did enjoy it for what it was. Of the TNG scores, Insurrection to me has the best balance between action and character moments and is also the most playful in transitioning between those modes (something that I felt was missing from Nemesis, both in score and movie). Much like the expansion of First Contact, I look forward most to the climactic cue which I hope will be presented in film & album version. The album to insurrection was a strong one, covering the vital themes and moments in the movie, but there are still some strong cues (the holodeckship, the call for arms, the collector deploying, ...) which I can't wait to hear in a C&C program. Bring it on!

Bring it on! I am hoping Insurrection gets the treatment that Generations got. With 2 CDs with the complete score and original album presentation. I was surprised First Contact didnt come that way, especially with all of the alternates in that score..

Yeah, I wondered the same thing about First Contact. I knew there were more alternates that didn't fit on one CD, and wasn't too bothered about missing them I guess, but then Generations came out as a two-discer which seems more unnecessary than a two-disc First Contact and I was kinda stumped. They must've just changed their approach, much as FSM decided to do their first ST release (Wrath of Khan) as one disc, even though there was at least one difference between their album and the original (theirs had the film insert in the Battle in the Mutara Nebula, which does break up the flow of the track a little bit). If they had been doing the two-disc standard from the beginning (a treatment later afforded to STIII, as well as STV and STVI on other labels) then we could have gotten that as well as the used final cue without Spock's narration...oh well! I'm still super grateful for all the great new Trek music we've been given. It's looking more and more likely however that we'll have to wait until the end of the year for Insurrection complete, because I was under the impression that LLL's new DS9 set squeaked in just under the wire before the hiatus on non-Into-Darkness merchandise began. I have no idea when this Into Darkness freeze kicks in. I suspect its sometime very soon if it hasnt kicked in already. I would think this freeze would start at the beginning of a new month. At least...that would make sense. If that is the case, then there is still time. If we dont get Insurrection/Nemesis before this begins, then oh well. We have more then enough to be grateful for. With 9 expanded/complete trek film scores, the two TNG sets, the TOS box, and NOW DS9, and obviously a NEW Trek score by Giacchino forthcoming, yes I think we have no reason to be impatient over the only 2 remaining scores. Dont get me wrong, I want them as much as you do (probably more!...have you noticed my avatar??)but I can live with out them for now if need be.

I suspect the answer is yes, because if they want to expand the score rather than just reissue it all previously unreleased music needs required a new license to be granted from Paramount. Yavar
