So roughly 13 minutes new for Hoe Alone 2, I know I already have the Varèse album but new Williams is hard to resist ESP his Xmas interpretations.

It's lovely they've actually given the track listings for all these albums early. Can't wait to hear them all even if they likely won't arrive till January with Xmas chaos and customs.

Home Alone 2 track list:

From the looks of it, the additional material are some arrangements of some Christmas songs and another arrangement of Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas.

Call me a grinch, but if that is all the extra stuff on this new releaee, then I'll pass it up and keep the Varese CD club version.

All of them. That is all.

Though maybe in separate orders....UK customs are notorious.

Thank you, Lala. I'll never forget the disappointment of buying and listening to the original Die Hard 3 album after the film opened. It was such a let-down with a weird assortment of songs and classical stuff that appealed to no one. One of the worst of the 90's.

This new version is the way it should have been from day one. Can't wait.

I had quite recent got my latest soundtrack order and after that I had decided that it was the last order before this year ends but I think LLL is making me reconsider that decision with this batch of releases.

Looks like I'll be double dipping on this one. I'm kind of irked about it b/c I bought the original album four years ago for a cheap price. And I thought that was 95% of the score from the film. Plus the original album that I bought four years ago is added on this 2 cd set as well. But whatever it's one of my favorite Morricone scores anyway.

DISC 2

Additional Music:

19 Holiday Flight (alternate) 2:26

It appears from this tracklist there's an error held over from the Varese release:

The "Holiday Flight (alternate)" cue (Disc 2, Track 11 on the Varese / Disc 2, Track 19 on the LLL) has apparently been misidentified again as an original Williams composition.

The Varese booklet points out what a remarkably different approach Williams originally had in mind for the frantic airport scene, but fails to mention (or give credit) for the fact that the alternate piece is actually a Williams arrangement of a popular jazz standard. My guess is that Williams never actually intended to use that track in the final score, but was just using it temporarily, early in the scoring process.

Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the piece myself, which makes it really hard to submit a correction properly.

Do any jazz experts here also happen to own the old Varese HA2 set?

I had not realized that it was a standard, but it seems unlikely that Williams recorded it for temporary use, never intending to keep it in the film, since the final piece is very similar to the equivalent piece from the first film, and that recording could have easily been used for temp purposes.

Good point. He may have been considering "going a different way" in the sequel's version of the airport scene.

Gotta be honest, didn't plan on buying Die Hard 3, but Simon says I have to or he'll blow something else up. He wants me to tell another 3,999 people the same and says failure to sell every copy will result in no-compliance.

Die Hard with a Vengeance is a little too pricey for me, but I've passed word of it on to a friend of mine, who has been hoping for it for years now. I know he'll be happy.
