VENGENCE OF SHE-67- Another haunting and pretty opening main theme vocal that sticks with you long after one hears it from one's ears.Music by MARIO NASCAMBENE.
HAMMER'S HOUSE OF HORRORS- The main theme from this TV show Hammer did over 30 years ago after they stop doing feature lenght films is a very catchy tuneful theme.
THE VAMPIRE LOVERS-70- This the first of 3 KARNSTEIN vampire films from HAMMER has a lush score by HARRY ROBERTSON, Pretty in style with many nice and enchanting motifs, it stays away though from one melodic tune throughout- Good score for the needed mood of film.
LUST FOR A VAMPIRE-71- The second in the KARNSTEIN trilogy has a nice pretty main theme by HARRY ROBERTSON which has a lovely vocal rendition during the human vampire sexual encounter.Never could understand why some people didn't care for the song. I wish top 40 could always have something that pretty and romantic.
There is a wonderful book out called HAMMER FILM SCORES AND THE AVANT-GARDE BY DAVID HUCKVALE. it came out a few years ago and i would recommend it for anyone who likes film music, for sure if you are into HAMMER film music. It is written by one who knows music and it's language , but even if you are not a educated person in the field of music you should enjoy it and get its drift. Well written and at times deep , it is indeed very imformative and fun to read.Of course check on the computer for more info on attaining this great book.
As many other guys on this board have been saying getting constant responses from threads seen to be at a low ebb these days..But your remark does say something that i feel is definitely true., It's a shame because all the other guys , including me are putting interesting threads down but they will often just get no one to respond to lately. Although i don't have pen and pencil it seems to me we don't have the numbers we had a few years ago. That's why i just go with the info thread more these days then the let's talk threads which guys like Montana Joe and David bekerley do and others and their threads are gone by the next day.
COUNTESS DRACULA-71- This nicely done effect from PETER SASDY, has some very nice musical cues at times throughout the film. Alot like THE VAMPIRE LOVERS score which was also by HARRY ROBERTSON.Not based on one theme, but lovely in parts.
FIFTY MILLION YEARS TO EARTH-67- As mention earlier in this thread, there is a very nice end theme music piece by CARLO MARTELLI in this Scifi classic.
THE LADY VANISHES-79-This was HAMMER'S last feature lenght film before they made their comeback a few years ago. i feel it was unfairly pick on. Not comparing it to HITCHCOCK'S version but it was ok entertainment with a nice cast, However in fitting style it had a beautiful score by RICHARD HARTLEY, the highlight the lovely main theme and being played during the end credits in lovely style has a fitting vibe to it, what better way for HAMMER to say goodbye then with a lush melody.

HAMMER in the early 60's did a few pirate adventure films like -PIRATES OF BLOOD RIVER-62- Which had a nice main theme melody and some good romantic cues along the way.Music by GARY HUGHES.
I'm glad you mentioned GARY HUGHES' Hammer music, one other one to mention would be -DEVIL SHIP PIRATES-64- which features a very rousing seafaring theme. The film has the premise of a badly damaged Spanish Armada ship making anchor off the English coast and taking over the nearest town & its inhabitants, pretending to the locals that the Armada has in fact been victorious, until of course the locals find out otherwise and take on the Spaniards. To me the best part of the film is the title sequence, both for the 'battle of the fleets' that you can see and Hughes wonderful opening music.
DR JEKYLL AND SISTER HYDE-71-DAVID WITAKER delivered a great score for this stylish thriller. A great waltz, a stirring transformation theme, exciting action cues and a very touching finale theme. a top notch score.
