"the quality of the film should enter into the decision"

No it shouldn't.

Inception for me, especially as heard in the movie, particularly at the end of the film. And I was also surprised at how effective I found Zimmer's two Sherlock Holmes scores.

This one is a no-brainer. Tron: Legacy is the very best score in the last 5 years. And the other score that is easily 2nd best is How To Train Your Dragon. And for all of the Tron haters out there - ease up! The film is very entertaining. I've seen it many times over.

YOR cannot understand all this love for "Tron Legacy" soundtrack since it is basically Hanzimmer's lame ostinatos and eletronic music that will be dated in the next 5 months.

The original "Tron" by Wendy Carlos... yes, that was and still is a great score.

Best scores YOR listened in the last five years?

- SPACEBATTLESHIP YAMATO, by Naoki Sato.

- EVIL DEAD, by Roque Baños

Not too many I've really liked recently in film (aside from Michael Giacchino's work), but there are quite a few from TV I do like.

My pick for favorite would be Giacchino's LOST which predates 2008, but still continued through 2010. If that timeline doesn't qualify, then a tie between Bear McCreary's CAPRICA & THE CAPE.

Despise is too strong of a word. I just don't like it. But I don't hate it. I just don't understand the how or why it received so much praise. IMO, Reznor and Ross' score to THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO was infinitely better than THE SOCIAL NETWORK.
