COCOON is very cool (cocoon-cool?). It's a nostalgic film from my childhood, and it's always been one of those scores I've been meaning to get on CD. Unfortunately, both the Polydor and PEG releases were too expensive for me at the time. Maybe now is the time to take a plunge (and then I can just rearrange the Intrada into the old Polydor program).

As for RED OCTOBER, I've obviously had the ol' MCA album for many years. To be perfectly honest, there isn't that much exciting music beyond the glorious Russian anthem. Loads of synthy percussion and suspense music. However, I'm fairly open on this. If there is some great music that is in a more "fullbodied" or melodic style, it could benefit the listening experience. And if that is the case, a few more minutes wouldn't hurt either.

If I'm not totally über-ecstatic in my reply, like many others in this thread are, it's because I rarely am (unless it's unreleased Williams, Elfman and Goldenthal). But don't get me wrong -- I think both of these are great!

Thor approved! You can't get a better endorsement than that. wink I'm not sure there's a lot of new material that would interest me. Though I love the Russian anthem. But I do hope there's an improvement in sound quality. Especially HFRO which always sounded quite poor to my ears.

I guess I'm kinda happy about these coming out, but I can safely say that I've never cried over the release of a CD ever.

I got pretty emotional over the Star Wars Anthology. Wrath of Khan probably got close. This is awesome but it's not even in the same league.

I have the original release on cd of Red October, but missed Cocoon. I will grab both of these assuming I have a decent week and can pay myself.

I have the last COCOON (PEG) release. Will the new one be any different?

What ever happened to the unwritten rule that these SPOILER thread titles would not be posted, but the thread should instead be named such as "Intrada 10/28 ... (click to find the titles)" ? Some of us actually still want to be surprised on Monday evening!

What unwritten rule? Intrada themselves announced it so it isn't like people spoiled the news. You can still chose to believe that they are not the 10/28 releases and intrada will instead release Project: Alf / Crossroads.

Most of the time when clues were posted we already knew what was being released

Knowing ahead of time is better. Give people a chance to set cash aside

Whoa this is great news regarding both releases . Red October: I sure hope the extended movie version cues will be on the CD. Or will Intrada release a 2 disc set?

Hopefully we will see the tracks this week?

True but those threads were easier to avoid, or at least if you wanted to play the game you could look at the clues without seeing the titles. I was a little put off at first because I also like the surprise of refreshing the Intrada page on Monday evenings, but I realized that recently Doug and Roger have come out and announced some titles rather than playing the clue game. So now, whether it's here or on some other board, once the news is out it's out. No sense fighting it.

I'm not doing any kind of crusade here but I think that people who really are interested in knowing the title in advance (be it for saving the cash for it or just out of plain interest) should and always did frequent the Intrada forum. That's one of the reasons why I myself so seldomly open it--I prefer not having the spoilers in advance and I just thought that it was good here at FSM when, for certain time, the threads used to be named as I suggested ("click to view the title") when the clues were resolved at the Intrada forum. If the thread was named like that, everybody interested would open it anyway and seeing the titles might be a bigger & better surprise for them--while we others would avoid knowing the titles in advance.

It's just my opinion of course. As I have no interest in these two titles coming this Monday I certainly do not feel any bad here.

I have never cried over the release of a cd either but I will say this post gave me a huge chuckle after a crappy day at work. Still laughing.....

Yes it's very funny, unfortunately I don't know who posted it because it was one of the 6 people on my ignore list smile

Frankly, I prefer the name of the new release IN the title of the discussion -- I'll be surprised when I first bring up the discussions, and be able to re-find it should I want to go back. And I HAVE come back a couple of times, this time in search of more information about what is on the new "Cocoon" CD, if we can sample it, and how long each cue is. Thank you.

Well I assume it will be a Two CD set.

Disc One the film version score
Disc Two the original MCA album along w/if any alternate cues and maybe John Beal's trailer music.

Tracking lists maybe the end of the week? If not then definitely on Oct 28th.

I don't think I've seen Intrada release tracklists beforehand.
