COCOON is very cool (cocoon-cool?). It's a nostalgic film from my childhood, and it's always been one of those scores I've been meaning to get on CD. Unfortunately, both the Polydor and PEG releases were too expensive for me at the time. Maybe now is the time to take a plunge (and then I can just rearrange the Intrada into the old Polydor program). As for RED OCTOBER, I've obviously had the ol' MCA album for many years. To be perfectly honest, there isn't that much exciting music beyond the glorious Russian anthem. Loads of synthy percussion and suspense music. However, I'm fairly open on this. If there is some great music that is in a more "fullbodied" or melodic style, it could benefit the listening experience. And if that is the case, a few more minutes wouldn't hurt either. If I'm not totally über-ecstatic in my reply, like many others in this thread are, it's because I rarely am (unless it's unreleased Williams, Elfman and Goldenthal). But don't get me wrong -- I think both of these are great! Thor approved! You can't get a better endorsement than that. I'm not sure there's a lot of new material that would interest me. Though I love the Russian anthem. But I do hope there's an improvement in sound quality. Especially HFRO which always sounded quite poor to my ears.

I guess I'm kinda happy about these coming out, but I can safely say that I've never cried over the release of a CD ever. I got pretty emotional over the Star Wars Anthology. Wrath of Khan probably got close. This is awesome but it's not even in the same league.

I have the last COCOON (PEG) release. Will the new one be any different?

Re: What ever happened to the unwritten rule that these SPOILER thread titles would not be posted, but the thread should instead be named such as "Intrada 10/28 ... (click to find the titles)" ? Some of us actually still want to be surprised on Monday evening! Frankly, I prefer the name of the new release IN the title of the discussion -- I'll be surprised when I first bring up the discussions, and be able to re-find it should I want to go back. And I HAVE come back a couple of times, this time in search of more information about what is on the new "Cocoon" CD, if we can sample it, and how long each cue is. Thank you.
