May be Intrada doesn't want to release the score because it sucks. And believe me, it really sucks.

And you know this how?

Given that he's a film music journalist, he probably already heard the score.

Right, because it's so unusual for movie properties to ape each other, or for comics to be ripoffs of each other or other media, or movie music for that matter. Originality, that's what counts in the pop culture biz, ever since the first silent remake!

All that matters is it's got the Shield Helicarrier on top - that's all I care about - nobody else's got that!

Make mine Marvel.

It was sarcasm I say. Sarcasm. smile Though in reality, "B" movies used to ape original, fresh, inventive "A" movies. Nowadays "A" movies ape other "A" movies.

Ok, ok, point taken.

I don't know that there are any A movies anymore, at least not along the lines of action/adventure/sci-fi/fantasy. They are just A-list B movies.

Maybe they always were.

Well said I would agree with that.

The physical album is now listed as "unavailable" on Amazon. The same thing happened with Thor: The Dark World, then it was released by Intrada. Could this be a similar situation?

Oh, okay. I wasn't aware.

Still hoping that this will be a good one.

Listen to the samples of this:

http://www.qobuz.com/album/captain-america-the-winter-soldier-henry-jackman/0005008730764

It sounds absolutely dreadful.

Yikes.

The Captain did just fine with Silvestri's score in The Avengers as well as his own first picture, so not sure why the filmmakers felt they needed to discard a full orchestral approach in favor of a more "modern" edgy buzzing type of scoring.

There are a few tracks that sound interesting, but it sure wasn't what I was expecting - so far. I'll be seeing the movie nevertheless, and that sound may well work in the movie itself. And, after all these are just samples, so am holding back judgement until seeing the movie razz

Agreed ^.
Silvestri can do "modern" - see GI Joe, The A-Team, and Red 2.

Silvestri's approach was more of a modern orchestral approach than a full orchestral approach. A full approach would have had a number of full statements of the theme during the film rather than reserving them for the end credits. Still as much as I dislike Silvestri's scores, at least they are generally orchestral with a modern feel. This is full on The Dark Knight style Zimmer writing in action format. A real shame because Jackman is better than this.

We keep saying that Jackman is better than this, but it seems that more often than not, he's writing garbage like Captain America.

I am not a contrarian, and I do prefer the Silver Age...

... but I think this sounds not bad at all but intriguing. A good combination of the traditional and the modern elements.

Also, let´s wait for the whole score before dismissing something due to samples.

Basically, Henry Jackman is very fond of soundscapes. He has always been, so it does not surprise me that he uses his experiments here, too. But it´s not just that at all. Listen to tracks like "The Smithsonian".

Yep, I´m looking forward to it and I will check out the whole score.

Yikes. Sounds like a another contemporary score-by-number. Enough already.

Wait! Guys, I must be listening to something else, because I actually like what I'm hearing.

From these online samples I can tell this score has some very good moments. Check tracks like "The Smithsonian", "Project Insight, or "Taking a Stand" for example. Plus, I'm sure "Time to Suit Up" which end abruptly as a sample might end with some grand fanfare. It's not the high level of Silvestri, but it sounds like a relatively good job to me.

Also, it seems logical to have a more "modern" sound that the first movie, because of the different time frame. As I said, I love Silvestri's approach, but this sounds appropriate.
