I just wanted to say that I've been absolutely ADORING every single post made by sheetmusicman. I love the spirit of these recordings/videos. I'll go as far as to say that these posts are the greatest things to grace the FSM boards in a very long time (not a slam, I'm a daily reader, just wanted to express the immensity of my appreciation). I hope sheetmusicman's posts never stop!

Dylan,

Thanks for your kind words.

It has been interesting to stumble into a new genre: Original Made-for-Message-Board Music Videos.

First gathering the suggestions under You Pick It/We Record was a fun way to interact with the members of the board in a different manner. Sort of a cyber juke box where the readers got to create the play list.

Then came throwing a party at a studio where we dove into piles of really off-beat and largely unknown sheet music. Sort of like hanging around the piano with a bunch of actors/singer and goofing around with the material. But instead of just having the experience ourselves, we could "invite" people from the board that we didn't even know to drop by and join the party if they were interested.

Finally came posting the songs on this board without any desired outcome other than the joy of sharing. Refreshing for us to not be trying to sell or promote anything. Not trying to perfect anything. Just fun for fun's sake.

And we have already started planning our next obscure sheet music party for the beginning of next year. So more strange and odd movie sheet music can be unearthed and goofed around with.

Hope you will continue to enjoy, Jason.

I must say that Dylan S's comment above made me glad I took the time to bring more attention to sheetmusicman's delightful posts. And I'm looking forward to session 2 next year. Don't forget: Please try to find the song "Daydreams" fashioned out of Georges Delerue's lovely main theme to "Rich And Famous." (And to those who spent all that time bashing these, as predicted, most of them quickly dropped to another page to spare you further grief!)

And to sheetmusicman: How about going back to where you told us about yourself and your team and PASTE that in your blank profile here? Am I the only one who hates blank profiles?

Sod sheetmusicman...I'm more concerned about the Brian Tyler threads now! smile

Josh: Re: "And Ron, chickenhearted's threads on the other side of the board cause no more harm than sheetmusicman's on this side...."

Yes, but I guess I have a pet peeve about them (just as others had theirs for sheetmusicman's posts), and just as it stirred up some ill-will when I brought so many of them to the top, whenever I see yet another of the never-ending series of "WHAT'S THE NAME OF THIS MOVIE?" I groan, because they seem so pointless to me, which is essentially what the sheetmusicman-bashers were doing and thinking today.

As for "stop whining," in this case they were whining about what I had brought to the top of the postings and I was merely responding to their bitching.

What is pointless to ANYONE is irrelevant to the rest of us. If folks cannot move past them, perhaps they need to take a time out. This forum is for EVERYbody...not just for a few who want to dictate what we can or cannot post.

While I have nothing against your posts, I mainly come to FSM to read debates and topics about new and old film scores.
As one can see today, the main page is literally flooded with posts by you about anything but debates and topics.
Would it be possible to create a separate section for these posts, so most film score fans can continue to do what they usually have around here?
Thanks.

This is for Vermithrax Pejorative AND Thor: I particularly avoid most of the threads you guys find essential. To me, they are boring. I don't bitch about them. I don't create posts to call you out. I respect your right to discuss whatever you want. I do not care for your lack of respect for others' rights. This thread I find reprehensible, and you both have personal demerits from me.

Happily, sheetmusicfan's posts have wonderful illustrations I've never seen.

Get over yourselves.

Keep 'em coming, dear "sheetmusicman".

Best wishes to you and your team in the studio.

I'm looking forward seeing & hearing more of it.

Re: Ron must be having a laugh over this.

Well if YOU want a chuckle or three, ask Ron what he thinks of "What's the Title of This Movie?"

Yes indeed, you know how much I HATE those, and there have been days when there are 6 to 8 of them clustered up near the top of the first page of discussions. But there's plenty of room here for all points of view, and so what if you need to go to page 2 to see more of the discussions YOU find the most interesting? If no one responds to them after me, they'll very quickly move down to page 2 themselves.

And WILLIAMDMCCRUM, really like your two posting above, especially the first!

Here's a CLUE, Ron....those multiple threads are clustered near the top because they INTEREST PEOPLE.

Ron P: Yes! And those who made such a big deal out of those sheetmusicman posts moving to the top expended time and energy on something that was quickly out of sight. They should use the energy to push things they LIKE (or love), which most of us do ... although, yes, I have my hangup about chickenhearted's postings as well as other posts that seem essentially irrelevant to me, but I have no more right to belittle them than do those I criticize for belittling sheetmusicman and his team. The point is to accentuate the POSITIVE and stop the griping! Thank you very much.

Ron

THANK YOU!

This is my idea of heaven. Hearing music by all my favorites in a way I have never heard before. Yeah, you could spend more time polishing each one but then you would get some of the same complaints while covering a lot less ground (and studios aren't cheap). This may inspire others to do this up right.
In the mean time ignore the naysayers, both of them.

p.s. Who do you have to screw/kill to get invited to these parties? big grin

Morricone:

You're right! Since I live in the same general area (Los Angeles) as sheetmusicman and his crew, and since I happen to be the instigator of a sort of renaissance of all his postings, maybe I can get him to invite me!!!!

Well, Vermithrax Pejorative, you just brought it back to the top again! (And it was there before I posted THIS!)

Like the idea of inviting members of the message board to the next recording session party.

Most likely to happen the beginning of the year after the holidays.

In the meantime start thinking about what pieces you would like us to play around with. Will start asking for suggestions after all of this batch is posted.

To be fair, the reason these threads proliferated the main page all at once is because someone decided to respond to almost all of them all at once.

Yeah, what an egomaniac!

Get over yourselves.

Ron, no offense, but you can be a bit of a drama queen sometimes (and I'm sure you'll respond to this characterization with equal outrage).

My only reason for posting in this thread in the first place was to react to the annoying flooding of the first page on that particular day. That's it. No more or less dramatic. It had nothing whatsoever to do with the contents of the threads, which are fine (although not really my cup of tea), and I wish sheetmusicman all the best in his continued project.

Besides, all of this became a non-issue DAYS ago! Why dredge it up now with such over-the-top histrionics that you KNOW will spur another response from me etc. etc.? If a reaction to board flooding on one particular day qualifies for 'personal demerits' from you several days after the fact, I'm afraid to think what would happen if you were confronted with something really serious.
