I have but two thumbs to put up, but I wish I were a multi-thumbed alien so I could really give this score the rating it so richly deserves. Anyone with me on this one?
Incredible as it may seem, I am listening to the Colombier disc in full..
Not that incredible. The Colombier score is great as is, but only if one isn't expecting a Barry knock off. It has to be judged on it's own merits and it that respect, Colombier did a fine job as usual (and I would have expected no less of him).
She Demons is kind of pedestrian, but the Astounding She-Monster is excellent and well performed. Makes ample use of the early Stravinsky sound, especially the Firebird. I finally get to hear more than the bits from this score tracked into extremely-bad-cinema-auteur Coleman Francis's The Beast of Yucca Flats.
