Biggest announcement ever, eh? How bout a TOS box set individually housed in a replica toupee signed by Shatner?

Chris.

With Shatner, it's "Where no toupee has gone before!!"

I could have sworn this "biggest release ever" was debunked. Some one mixed up what the label wrote and what a member wrote on FB? So I don't expect this announcement to be the biggest news in score history, what ever it is.

Nope, it wasn't debunked. LLL made the comment in the comments of a FB post and then just yesterday posted

"One more thing -- Aug 10 at 5:05 pm pst the LLL gang takes the stage to discuss the music of Star Trek and to make one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, soundtrack announcements of our 10 years in business."

(Which you can see a few short posts above)

From Facebook:

VEGAS, BABY!

We are in Vegas right now at the Star Trek Convention held at the RIO Resort. Stop on by and say hi...maybe pick up a soundtrack or two. We have great deals going on.

One more thing -- Aug 10 at 5:05 pm pst the LLL gang takes the stage to discuss the music of Star Trek and to make one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, soundtrack announcements of our 10 years in business. For those of you that can't make it, make sure to come to our website around 5:30 pm pst and watch a little something special we have cooked up for you. wink

Live Long and Prosper.

Haven't you figured it out by now?

They've finally managed to make a deal with Varese and can now sublicense all they're awesome 90's titles!!!

The first release - of course - will be Star Trek Nemesis, which is why they'll announce it on a Star Trek Event.
Now how's that for one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, soundtrack announcements of our 10 years in business? big grin

wink

Just wishful thinking ...

EDIT 1: This would also fit perfectly with MV's back with a vengeance comment (even though it was not never meant as a hint)! So bring on "Die Hard with a Vengeance" as the second release in the new Varese & La-La-Land All Stars Line! big grin

EDIT 2: Forget EDIT 1 - my bad! (See later postings)

Nemesis is considered one of the weaker efforts in the film series. So it's not that.

That would mean that Nemesis' score is more beloved than The Motion Picture's score. I don't think that will ever be the case. The only big thing that Nemesis did was succeed at doing what William Shatner failed to do when he directed Star Trek V. Killing the franchise. Why would the score for that film, which was just ok on Goldsmith standards, be one of their biggest announcements in their 10 year history? That's nuts.

It almost has to be Star Trek. Announcing Bond would be cool, but why at a Trek convention?

If it IS Trek it has to be bigger than ALL SIX TOS MOVIES. It has to be bigger than the Ron Jones Box. Much as it would make some fans astonishingly happy, a complete DS9, Voyager, or Enterprise would not be bigger than those.

So I suppose it could be THE REST OF TNG.

But it sure smells like THE COMPLETE STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES.

Oh, I'm going to be SO depressed tomorrow night, aren't I?

Depressed because... of it being a complete Star Trek TOS set, or of it not being a complete Star Trek TOS set (or of it being or not being something Bond-related)?

The only problem I'd have with a complete TOS set would be my difficulty affording it, but like Spock nearing death, I'd "find a way..."

The big announcement of course would be La-La-Land finally sublicensing old Varese soundtracks! big grin
Just think of all the possibilities (Starship Troopers, Die Hard 2, Predator 2, Robocop 2 & 3, ...)

Star Trek Nemesis just would happen to be the first release of this new line. smile

Sorry for not making my point more clear in my first posting.

But again all of this is just wishful thinking ... so bring on Star Trek TOS ( incidentally also a dream come true)! smile

Die Hard with a Vengeance has never been controlled by Varese.

Sorry, my bad!
I mixed up "Die Hard 2" and "Die Hard with a Vengeance" and their respective right issues.

EDIT: Fixed Now!

My hopes are unreasonably high that it is ST:TOS. It's very possible that it's not this.

But yes, if it is TOS then I'll have to grapple with finances. TMP I had enough of an inkling about to save up for. If this is TOS then it will have caught me somewhat flat footed.

Besides (last chance to say this?) isn't there some problems with the rights?

if it is a substantial chunk of TOS music, I'll be impressed he managed to keep it a secret all this time. It would have taken quite awhile (years?) to get the music, the rights, etc.

Man, talk about a dream come true! I doubt it'll ever happen but it's still fun to speculate. smile

And we're listening to The Whyte House from Diamonds Are Forever!

What a devious comment! For the few Bond Music addicts among us who are LONGING for that damn dream-come-true 50th anniversary expanded & complete (or nearly complete) box set of 007 scores... this is too much to take.
Especially when it's probably turning out to be something Star Trek anyway.
Which would be great in itself - but come on, the BIGGEST soundtrack release (should be rather movie related than TV related, IMHO) of all time being "just" a massive amount of Star Trek TOS / TNG / DS9 music in a box? I hope not...

Thxs for the clarification. This one had me confused.

Now I really hope that the BIGGEST release will be any Star Trek box, not James Bond.
IT' may seem selfish, but this $150-200 (and higher price) boxes are not for me. For several reasons:
1. (and main!) My wages is $200-250, and I must support my family!
2. I will pay a lot taxes, and even after this I don't sure that this box will arrive intact.

So if anyone doing Bond score, please - give as 20-21-22 separate 2CD sets! It will be fair to those who do not live in the U.S. (I think that members from Europe, Australia & all other world will support this wish)

maybe it's really "10 Commandments"...and FSM is releasing TOS (or BOND). Or LLL and FSM are doing 5 Commandments each. wink
From the description of all the effort put into the forthcoming FSM, sounds like both labels have "one of the biggest" releases this month. Coincidence?

This is a Star Trek event is it not? It's a panel talking about Star Trek music.

Why would it be a Bond announcement? Or The Ten Commandments? Or Die Hard 2?

La-La Land: Trekkies from all over the world, we here at La La Land Records are pleased to announce to our biggest release in all of our 10 year existence!

Trekkies: =D

La-La Land: The official release of Paul Zaza's music from Baby Geniuses 1 and 2!

Trekkies: D=

There. Now there's nothing that La-La Land can announce that will disappoint anyone.

One other thing. Wouldn't this announcement be the release of Deep Space Nine? La-La Land hasn't officially announced anything official yet, but there's been lots of talk about it in both these forums.

I would agree, were it not for the fact that they've stated that this is essentially the biggest announcement in their company's history. DS9's no doubt a significant release, but La la land's landed bigger releases in the past: The X-Files box, ST:TMP, ST:V, Hook, Batman:TAS, etc...

Plus, they're generally not given to hyperbole. This'll be a big announcement.

Chris
