So, wow. I knew it would sound good but jeez. This is some next level stuff. I've been jumping around from disc to disc and sampling my favorite unreleased bits. Also, the box, CDs, cases and booklets were all in immaculate shape. Packaged very well.

Job well done, Lala. Couldn't have asked for more. I am going to listen to this at the gym tomorrow and murder some calories.

I had the original release of the first one, so I've been focusing on 2 for now, the opening track is a knockout, also it makes a big difference to me that the order has quite a clear structure - the bad guys take over the music cues about a third of the way through and it more or less stays that way until there's a third to go - i love this about LLL's Krull release too, one third heroics, then solid swamp music, then back to heroics. I guess 2 had by far the most clearly defined antagonists in the series so it makes sense.
The lead riff in the Helicopter Approach/Helicopter Attack is a standout for me, especially when it bursts through in the chaotic Stilt House Falls with an added sense of triumph, probably my favorite track so far.

on a side note, it's been years since i've seen the film, but thinking back, don't half of the police department and patsy kensit all get killed basically because mel gibson pulls that fishtank prank? isn't that what it boils down to?

Has anyone in the UK had this come without customs charges?

I received my set in a week, with no customs charges. Strangely, I'm still waiting for Defiance and Superman Returns, which was ordered separately and shipped first. So, I might get slapped with charges on that one.

Same here. Recieved LW on Saturday but am still waiting for SR, Def and PA which was sent nearly a week earlier. I'm thinking it might be because LW was in a box and sailed straight through whereas SR et al are stuck with all the other Christmas parcels because it's in a jiffy. Fingers crossed.

I received Superman Returns and Defiance on Tuesday, with no issues :-)

Not really, all the cops that were killed from the P.D. chased the BMW thugs at the beginning and confiscated all of those krugerrands resulting in a huge financial loss, and then all of the cops that were killed were at the first showdown with the bad guys (where the cops basically spat in the thugs' faces) at the stilt house when Rudd first played his "diplomatic immunity" card.

fair enough, i don't think i could appreciate the movie now in the same way i did then, but it's fun to look at it from other angles, like that prank being utterly irritating to joss ackland, and the last straw, what a different film it would be if mel spiraled into self-doubt and blamed himself. not that anyone would've signed off on that, except me.

Well the original script had Riggs killed and Murtaugh go on a rampage in revenge, but that got nixed.

nice, so danny glover becomes the lethal weapon, possessed by the spirit of mel gibson, and predator 2 becomes a crossover instead of a sequel, with glover demoted to south central, and gary busey playing the scientist who cloned himself as mr. joshua for the military.
hey, at least he got the predators' respect in the end, arnie had peak fitness and training, all glover had was attitude.

Keep playing the fight at the Stilt house and Mulholland Chase. Fab to finally have that.

Can't get enough. Why can't current modern film music be this engaging?

After hearing all the wonderful, unused action music I'm tempted to make some restoration videos. I'd love to see how the entire opening to part 2 plays out...

Yep. This is evident that same night when Rudd says that the warning didn't work and later that night, the bomb was attached to Roger's toilet. When he came home he had to go and that's when he sat down. That was the first step. Then the bomb under the diving board was planted. Then the shooting and finally the last bomb at the poker game. Though it would have been planted during the day.

LW2 leaves us hanging with a set-up that didn't pay off later. After Riggs takes Rika home and goes to drive away he is knocked out by the bad guys. We then get a glimpse of Sam the dog still in the back of Riggs' pick-up. Ah-ha!! Sam's going to save the day in a later scene, we think. The dog disappears after that scene, though. No pay-off scene. I was disappointed.

OK. Back to music discussion. smile

My package consists of Lethal Weapon box, Defiance, Superman Returns & Police Academy

No sign yet.

Normally LLL takes just under a week but this time of year delays are inevitable.
However I do tend to get a bit paranoid after having 2 expensive packages go missing a couple of Christmases ago.

Yay - all arrived yesterday safe and sound.

Made a start on LW - wow what a set this is....

Sam's down by the shore watching as Riggs is walking back and forth with Rika's body.

So now that most of us has had a chance to digest this set what are some things that surprise you about it? Me for one has been Lorna's First Fight from LW3. Completely different cue then the one in the film, which I guess was tracked from LW2, the Stilt House Fight. What a great original cue Kamen wrote. Wonder why they chose to nix it????

Thought the short hockey game action cue from LW3 was real and not an edit from the stilt house fight from LW2. Also noticed that General's Car from LW1 does not have the sax overlay heard in the film. I prefer the orchestral only one but assume this could not be found as an extra.

Love this box, will play it for months. Glad there is no Goldsmith I want to divert my attention at the moment.

I was surprised by the amount of music dropped from part 2. Especially the first Leo Getz scene. That's great stuff !
