Because clearly EVERYONE wants what you want and NO ONE wants anything else.

No, I'm not saying that at all, but think of it this way: The Varese Club only puts something out a few times a year these days. Traditionally, the Club has existed to release titles that are either expensive to produce or which Bob Townson believes have limited commercial appeal outside of the fervid soundtrack collector base (or, in many cases, both).

This has allowed them to dig up a lot of obscure holy grail titles, clean them up as best they can, and put out some nice albums, knowing that even 1000 copies might be tough to sell. Often, these albums will be greeted with comments on this board such as, "wow, I first saw that movie when I was 14 and I desperately wanted _that one cue_.... and now we've got it!" That, I believe, is the best of what the VCL does.

For me, when there's an announcement that another batch is on the way, it's a very exciting time, and I love reading all the speculation. It's an opportunity for Varese to either expand something that could really use it or to even find some legal way to get out an all-new release of some forgotten gem of the past that no one really anticipated (like THE LIST THE ADRIAN MESSENGER the other year).

If you look at all that, I would say that a mere expansion of a something that was only out a couple years ago (and which frankly didn't distinguish itself from it predecessor that significantly in the first place), is a severely wasted opportunity. I don't have a problem with anyone who wants more STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS (even though I likely wouldn't buy it myself), but this is magic ticket time: Varese is working on whatever these releases might be _right now_, and they could be ANYTHING from soundtrack past. Don't you hope they come up with something a little more interesting?

Believe it or not they still sell Cassette Players. Also I noticed a few weeks ago some brand new punk music released as "Internet releases" on cassette tape. smile

PS: The BD Star Trek: The Compendium is being released on September 9th. So an Into Darkness release would be timely.

So excited!!!

I will reserve that for once the title is announced. But still nice to see another batch announced, be it one club and limited editions.

People and their cynicism 'round these parts. Can't anyone be glad an announcement is coming without the parade rains sweeping in. Eeyore!

Well, intrada at least gives some clues... I can't be excited at an announcement of an announcement, I've seen plenty of batches come by with titles that didn't interest me. But if you are excited already, I am excited for you! wink

Woo-hoo!

Dracula (1979) - double compact disc version.

Of course, this is my dream, too. It's been much discussed in the past. Fingers crossed that a miracle will happen...

Yeah, that is not one of Varese's titles. Someone else is doing that.

I would love a remastered and expanded MR. DESTINY although I know it won`t be it.

I had the movie on ahem VHS. I believe there was about 5-7 of unreleased music. Great score indeed.

I believe the last track was supposed to be the closing credits but it was replaced by a song.

I would love an expanded AIR FORCE ONE. I'm not holding my breath though...I would love to see something really awesome released since these club titles are so few and far between now...

What version? If Varese's early release, I'd love to get a copy of that one.

Actually the first track is the unused end credit cue. There isn`t that much of unreleased music in the film but it`s a bit more than 5 - 7 minutes. My guess it`s around 15 minutes. But the unreleased stuff is great. And the score really could use a remastering.

Thanks for the updated info. Wow see I haven't seen the flick in a loooong time. I would be down for an expanded/remastering too.

The Varese was short and Silva longer, but even with the Silva as generous as it was, both releases have different takes of things. I imagine to do Supergirl real justice a 2 disc expanded set would need to be done as there is a lot of alternates.
