Gonna have to wait longer than that. We just started working on it

MV

can you confirm or deny Thom's theory that LLL schedules a Frontiere Television score every three years, like some kind of circadian rhythm? Or is it somewhat random?

I am just really excited about this set coming out. We finally get to have John Williams' complete score to "The Reluctant Stowaway", "Island in the Sky". and "The Hungry Sea". Everything else is gravy IMHO.

I asked this in the jwfan forum too.
You mean that the La-laland 40th anniversary combined with the 3 existing volumes of LIS, don't have the complete Williams music?
There are still unreleased cues?

Plenty. Remember, most of "The Reluctant Stowaway" cues on the 40th album and the previous album weren't the original soundtrack recording from "The Reluctant Stowaway." As mentioned before, these were "re-recordings" done to create library cues during the second or third season.

I don't really recall them using these library cues very much in the actual show, but I can recall one instance off of the top of my head: in "Visit to a Hostile Planet" when the "girls" are exploring the town right after they land, they enter an office in a factory/business at night. During this since, a re-recording/library cue from "My Friend, Mr. Nobody" is used. The instrumentation, the tempos, and the feel is a fair bit different from the original recording.

The same practice was done on "Star Trek" (and the La-La Land collection has these re-recorded cues on it.)

And to La-La Land, take your time, take your time, and do it right. :-)

PS, you don't really need the Herrmann cues on the album as all of them (and many of the other movies) have been released. I just hope that they are able to release all of the LIS soundtracks and library cues.

That, and they should take whatever time is needed to look after the details.

Will Joe Sikoryak be the art director?

As a special request can I ask for the chilling, haunted screams of "Angus" the beast from the moat from the episode The Astral Traveller be included. This has to be one of the freakiest sounds ever heard in a television series or motion picture. It was also used as the bellowing screams for the terrible "Frost Giants" in the episode The Space Vikings. big grin Seriously though, This is all too much for me. My favourite music from my all time favourite TV show. Even if much of it does seem kind of silly and ridiculous now I still really enjoy this show.
Huge thank you to LaLaLand.

I wonder if there's still hope for the proto-Outer Limits music of STONEY BURKE

As the cliche goes, you're entitled to your opinion, but not your own facts. If you want to spread rumors, try to use something more reliable.

I make reference to Frontiere's television music from La-La Land and from 2008.
So the three years pattern is valid.
And since you asked about some television music, it makes sense.
None of your examples are about television music, by the way.

Ohhh, it's only TV music. Now it all makes sense.

In 2017, LLL planned to released The Rat Patrol volume 3 (the library music). wink

LOST IN SPACE and it's music runs deep in my childhood, and I couldn't be more excited for this new complete set. I'm glad that La La Land is handling it, because I know it will be done right. (The STAR TREK box is a masterpiece.)

I wonder how they'll organize the scores. Will they be presented approximately chronologically, by original airdate? Will they assemble individual composers' music altogether, (the Williams material all grouped up, for example)? Will the Herrmann stuff appear anywhere? What about the sound effects that we got on the GNP bonus disc?

Whatever they decide to do ... this will be the release of the year for me!!!!

I'm very excited and pumped about this release! For all the reasons mentioned above! And yes, I do hope sound effects are included perhaps on a bonus disc because I too would love to have that "Angus" creature's scream effect! Been a fun talking point for many years with my friends. But oh, to have all that music in complete form, a dream come true!

The music referenced from "Visit to a Hostile Planet" is part of the score written by Cyril Mockridge, which adapts some material by Williams--it's not a library cue and as far as I know none of the library cue versions of the Williams cues were used on the series.
I'd love to put the Angus screams on the set but we don't have access to the sound effects from the show and frankly we don't have room for them.

New Williams music, yes or no?
I'm not going to bed until I get a yes.

Works out the same for me. smile Get alll the details just right and take just long enough for me to pony up the dough to buy this and the Blu-Ray release.

Most interesting. So, that isn't a library cue, heh? The particular scene I mentioned sounds to me as note for note from John Williams' score with perhaps a few minor instrumental changes.

Learn something new everyday. (And by the way Jeff, you're one of my heroes. I'm always happy to be schooled... but I'm especially happy to be schooled from somebody such as yourself.)

According to the Lost in Space Forum, it seems almost certain that a 10 CD Box Set will be released by La La Land in the Fall of 2015.
Here is the link to the post on the website:

I can't wait to hear more music from this great 60's classic TV show!

Poor LLL, it seems news of their pending releases get leaked more than any other label.

I can't wait-there's no better music to be found anywhere in my opinion.

Jeff Bond, and all others who are handling this:

PLEASE include a list of all the musicians if possible. And thanks for your work that's ahead.

I'm just so happy that this project is actually underway. Sorry for bumping an old thread but another member kindly linked me to this thread.

Can you tell us of the condition of the tapes you've worked with thus far? Are the cues in stereo or will they be artificially dubbed into synthetic stereo? Also...any chance that there might be outtakes as heard on later releases of the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still"? I still laugh when I hear Herrmann saying, "Lionel, Lionel! We're not laying linoleum here!" from the mixing booth.

Full marks to LA LA LAND!!!
