I agree Zardoz. I first saw the film about 1963 and always wanted the score. It's a great Bernstein score and sounds fine to me, monaural and all! Buy it while you can, we are lucky to have it all!
This thread took many tangential turns talking about the CD release, the possible DVD release the Bernstein re-recording, etc. However, one thing I never saw was, did Warner Archive ever finally release the movie on DVD?

Don't deny the release of great golden or silver age scores to us older folks just because the younger generation doesn't know their rear end from their elbow when it comes to good music.
