For once, Pirates of the Carribean wasn't even written, which makes it very hard to make any use of its "material." Mission: Impossible on the other hand was written and if you know the two scores [M:I + Eraser], you know the similarities.

Yes, Silvestri makes it clear in the interview that nothing was actually written for Pirates (which I'd heard already), but the "cocktail party conversation" analogy he makes I thought was appropriate enough.

I have the old Dragonslayer album, I find it a very difficult atonal-avant-garde like composition. Its definetly not an easy listen experience. I do appreciate this type of score/approach though. Its something you have to discover after a few repeat listenings.

I must say in those days studios had more sense / balls. Now they just hire some MV guy. (Clash of the Titans anyone) Yuck.

For anyone who's had the Lasher CD, this will be an amazing upgrade. The sound is superb and while it's not my favorite Alex score, it's really good and a must for any North fan. The music has never sounded better. Top notch job all the way around.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Bruce. I've listened to it twice now and it's everything I hoped for.

Nooooo. It might look like he did 30 years ago, but it couldn't possibly be that bum....

Actually, I might have preferred ol' Willie to the incredibly wimpy and whiny Peter MacNichol - the worst thing about an otherwise solid movie, in my opinion.

Then again, no sci-fi / fantasy hero should have a blonde afro.

Except for...

Blond afros RULE!

Ok, maybe not. big grin

I just can't get over how amazing this release sounds. Listening to it through headphones, I feel like I'm sitting in the recording studio. Such a unique and powerful score, too. Wait, did you see that? LLL just knocked another one out of the park.

Not to be nitpicky, but what's up with the clicks on track 26?

Did anyone get a copy of Dragonslayer with the UPC symbol punched out? Mine has one, so unless I accidentally got one meant for promotional use or something along those lines, I find it a bit unusual for a new release. Yes, it arrived factory sealed.

Did you order from La La Land's website? If so, I'm sure it was an accident that you were sent a promo copy.

What, where's the love for Eraser? Tremendous album, really , some great furious action writing. Nice package too, a thick booklet, lots to pour over.

Thanks to the LaLa Monkeys for this one - I'd blast it really loud but, it's late and I can't scare the cat and the girlfriend out of bed.

Or...maybe I can...
