Golden Child = yes.

I shall own it.

A little John Carpenter trivia: he was allegedly offered to direct "The Golden Child" and turned it down in favor of "Big Trouble in Little China"

He made the better choice. Imagine if BT in LC had never been made! I don't wanna live on a planet that doesn't have that movie.

Terrific! The Barry score track "Wisdom of the Ages" was always my favorite track on The Golden Child cd.

Very excited about the other titles as well. Great way to start the work week!

. . . Four of those titles will not be done in time for the Con.

These four titles were going to be:

Batman Forever Expanded Archival Collection
Forever Young Expanded Archival Collection
Space Above and Beyond (3 cd set)
1941 (2 cd set)

Those titles are still coming -- When? Who knows....but they are in the chute . . .

Stretch doesn't care, but the rest of us love you, MV!

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Holy Cow! I haven't seen 1941 since it came out in 1979 and had no idea Mickey Rourke was in it.

I only remember him from that great scene in BODY HEAT a couple years later.

Wow, La La Land!

Unbelievable. I think La La Land takes the cake for releasing those special titles one after the other!

I am betting on Star Trek: The Motion Picture from them soon. PLEEEEZE!!

And here I thought you boys were on vacation this week and not announcing anything. I don't know why I or any other label would have thought that, though - oh, wait, maybe it's because you stated right here on the FSM board that you were on vacation this week and not announcing anything. Surprise, surprise - as always. smile

I'll take a La La announcement ambush any day over your carefully timed announcements Bruce, not to mention your endless rain of pithy sarcasm. Man, and you wonder why I didn't say hi at the Goldsmith concert (to answer your public FSM shot a couple of threads back). Get over being the wiseacre in your own sandbox over a label that's never publicly rained on your parade, and the world would be a far better place where people could just announce their titles without the expected, stupid backlash. Capitalism means competition, even in this small, backbiting world of ours.

What a rectal post, Daniel. Keep on ignoring me, it's fine - I know you're not happy when you're not getting your promos and freebies, so your ire is understandable. I'm glad you'll take an ambush any day over someone actually keeping their word - the soundtrack world would be a far better place if people just did what they said they were going to do and left it at that. That's my opinion, pithy or not. And I'll take pith over your brand of piss any day, baby smile

Lovely language.

There's a difference between "promising" not to announce something and then doing it, and saying you're on vacation and then changing your mind if you get news that's too good not to share . It's not a question of someone not "keeping their word."

This has nothing to do with promos, and everything to do with your attitude as a person, as directed towards good people (whom I'd view the same way whether I've done work for them or not, or received any free stuff or sponsorship). The last I heard was that there weren't some gentleman's agreements in the soundtrack world, let alone in the real, competitive business world where companies agree on when someone will announce a new model of the latest car, computer, toaster, etc. Yet there you are on the board, continuously railing on about release dates, against people who've never done the same to disrupt your threads. They don't feel the need to. I, on the other hand, don't like seeing friends getting pissed on in a public forum. In my opinion, the people who will buy your releases will buy them, no matter what another company might be putting out at the same time.

Uh huh. And we know how you keep your word, don't we?

And they didn't "just" get news that was too good to share, they didn't just realize that The Golden Child was suddenly releasable - but you knew that, just as you know everything as you follow me from board to board posting any time you see an opportunity. They saw that this week was light and next week is now a Varese and Intrada four-header and they did what they did.

But you know what's funny? Let me tell you what's funny. Orders were coming in VERY strongly all day yesterday and this morning, stronger than the last few months. Right up until the very minute that this unplanned surprise announcement showed up - at which point the orders stalled. If people find that coincidental, great. I don't.

If this had been done by someone else I'd have posted the same thing. La La Land does fine releases. They do have a habit of making with the pronouncements and dates and then just not sticking to them. I suppose one will just have to get used to it - it's not going to change anything I do, but in this particular instance it was a little irritating.

"

And let's analyze why they don't disrupt my threads, shall we:

Because there's no need to? I announce one title - that's ONE title every two weeks, like clockwork. I don't say I'm going to and then try to trump someone because that's not the way I do business or who I am as a person. Oh, it would be easy to do, but not for this guy. I'm not pissing on anyone - it is you doing the pissing. I am pointing out that one thing was said and another done - I find that a little unseemly, but that's me. It is my opinion. Take it, leave it, play badminton with it. I didn't make a personal attack on MV Gerhard, who I like. But you made a personal attack on me, as you always do. And don't tell me it's not about promos and freebies and writing liner notes - that is, to say the least, disingenuous.

I now return everyone to The Golden Child, which I will most assuredly be getting. My point was my point - I made it and that's that.

Would this be a bad time to announce my new label that I'm starting up.
