Here's a link for it, though at the moment there's nothing Anthony hasn't already mentioned:

Ahh I was wondering when this would pop up. Obviously a no brainer for me. May 14th...hmm...I'll have to look and see if this comes out before the GSPO concert... smile

Does anyone remember the signing that Best Buy in Hollywood had in 2009 when the first edition of the score came out? Here's hoping something similar happens this year for Into Darkness.

I wish they could decide whether or not there's a colon in the title!

There isn't. Varese made a mistake.

I just hope for two things. I hope that the Courage fanfare is used for victory/hero moments in the score and I hope the choir is included in the release by Varese. I think we all know the story about the missing choir from the Deluxe Edition of the 2009 score. I didnt realize it until much later. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

Keep in mind buddy ALL of this costs money so not having the choir on the CD was most likely a budgetary issue. Varese does there absolute best, but they still have to make a profit. smile

Of course they do Spanky. Note how I said "I hope". If they do then it would be wonderful. All I'm saying.

Giacchino didn't mentioned to use choir in the score on Twitter.

Giacchino Fan writes:P.S. Thumbs up for Benedict Cumberbatch, the British actor with one of the coolest names!
This guy was also featured in The Hobbit (part 1) for about half a second. { and see the work he's done on BBC Television series/movies.}[GTT]

Cool, thanks, Yony. Sounds like this is an extract of the new End Titles. I guess they're still recording then? I thought it seemed like they got through it really quickly, March 5-9. I read back over some of Michael's recent posts on Twitter and it seems like yesterday was the completion of two days of fixes and final picture conforms. Exciting.

Sounds like a new version, there's some snare drums which weren't used in the original version.

Sounded new to me too. Was surprised it had classic music in it again, pleased though.

All I know is that so far this movie looks excellent. Another home run for J.J. Abrams!!!

I seem to be in a minority but I found Giacchino's Trek score to be very dull and unmemorable.

Granted, it isnt quite so terrible as the score for Trek IV and VI but nor was it anywhere close to even the worst of the Goldsmith and Horner entries.

In fairness, I'm quite biased because I don'tmuch care for the movie itself (Pine is great, hate the rest of the movie, especially Orci & Kurtzman's abysmal screenplay, the terrible, terrible, terrible sets, the need to change canon and Leonard Nimoy's dentures) and I've just never understood the love for Giacchino. His PS3 scores arepreety decrnt but his movies scores just leave me cold.

So ai'm not exactly thrilled about either the score for this one or the film itself. The trailers don't thrill me (the latest one looks like JJA is rehearsing for his Star Wars gig).

I'm with you, i liked the Giacchino 'Medal Of Honor' music a lot, but his movie scores never really lived up to those. It all seems a bit to busy for my ears.

I did like the first Trek movie (Pine, as you say is phenomenal), but i don't understand a re-boot with characters of old appearing (Judi Dench in the Craig Bond movies, or indeed Nimoy in 'Star Trek')
And i was afraid his teeth were gonna jump me any minute !

Thanks for posting the videos! Hearing that music again gets me pumped up. Can't wait!

Agreed; I was just guessing in my post above that it might be a new End Title, because of the way he brought in the Courage theme like he did in the last one. Love seeing these videos.

Edit: Michael has confirmed my guess, replying to a Trek fan site...

Well, this confirms that there'll be choir in the score.

It's unfair for me to post this in this particular thread, and I truly don't mean it as a swipe against Giacchino or this score (which, of course, I haven't heard), but I really have grown weary of the choir as shorthand for "this is big, important stuff!"
