Wouldn’t mind hearing a new Farpoint. It has some cool stuff in it. And it’s before the TNG music got Bermaned.

i too would be interested in an expanded ENCOUNTER AT FARPOINT and ALL GOOD THINGS (that tease we got on Lalaland's release was too small)

I would also be interested in an expanded “Encounter at Farpoint” and a full album for “All Good Things.”

speaking of BOBW, i watched the standalone Blu release yesterday and i love the editing they did with it. for so many years, i've grown accustomed to the Cut to Black after "Fire!" I have to admit, it threw me for a loop.

How did they edit is? The old version cut of Jones' fantastic cliffhanger cue, so I always found it disappointing.

Was listening to this disc again today after working my way through the season three blu-ray. I'm wondering whether anyone has any idea as to why the sound on the original GNP release is not so good. And by so not so good I don't mean that it's terrible, but listening to the expanded disc, the sound is just so crisp and clear and fantastic, it makes me wonder what they did to it back in 1990 for the original disc. "Borg Engaged" has to be one of the greatest cues written for television, and on the original disc it has relatively a lot of hiss, sounds kind of clipped, and also has less dynamic range to my ears. On the new disc, the same track has no hiss, full frequency range, and is completely dynamic such that soft is soft and loud is loud. It makes me think that the CD master was more than a generation removed from the original.

On the new disc, the same track has no hiss, full frequency range, and is completely dynamic such that soft is soft and loud is loud. It makes me think that the CD master was more than a generation removed from the original. I can shed a bit of light on this ... Back in 1990 when the project was in production, the choice was made by the company to use the mixes that Ron Jones was given after the sessions on his DATS as the source of their master. Mark Banning who was working at GNP at the time spotted the mix issue with "Borg Engaged" and strongly suggested that they go back to the multi-track masters and fix this issue and perhaps do a new album mix, however it was decided to just use the 2 Track Stereo Dat Master mixes and not spend the additional monies to remix. It was a budget call on their part, which they had the right to do. However I've had to listen to him bitch about that for the last 22 years and I'm glad that this issue was addressed on this release and I won't have to keep hearing about it for the next 22 years.. THANK GOD!!!!! :-) Ford A. Thaxton
