"it’s nonstop fortissimo, with lots of brass, Japanese drums, and electric violin." "He also said he is three weeks away from recording the score for Godzilla which opens in May." Hmmm... sounds promising... this may be the first Desplat score that I probably could like.

I hope it´s not really non-stop fortissimo. I liked the rather quiet atmosphere of the trailer.

I was working on the Warner Bros. lot a few Saturdays ago, and I heard what at first I thought was some sort of scraping. But as it got louder and louder, I realized it was a monster roaring -- Godzilla! The roars (there were many, of various lengths) kept getting more ear-splitting. I drove around in a golf cart until I traced the sound to one of their New York streets (you've seen this one a lot -- it was Gotham in "Batman Returns"). A sound engineer had set up a huge speaker on a stand to play the roars, while another stood with a boom microphone recording it. I guess, despite all the technology, their best way of recording natural sounding reverb was to play the roar in the middle of building facades! Mind blown! In PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE, studio cops chase Pee-Wee in - get this - golf carts around - get this - the Warner lot, even running through - get this - a soundstage filming... GODZILLA.

True never did see a Despat film come to think of it. Crazy. And BarryGrusin been collecting for 25 years, have over 3000 scores on my shelf and hard drive. Yeah I know a little about what a film score is. Seriously, man, go here and listen to all of these. I just put this together from memory, so don't bail on me here, man. I'm not crazy about Desplat's action music, but here and there he pulls it off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hFO9sA7LsA&list=PLN2qr-tVCeg3yhtp_gLn8YrOCOQsv0-pa
