I saw this for a second time last weekend (which holds up fairly well to a B-grade I gave it originally, even if it doesn't hold a candle to the first two Raimi movies).
This might be my third or fourth time listening to the score and I feel that I severely underrated it in my mind originally, and I think it stands favorably to Elfman's scores for the same characters. I'm still not 100% sold on Horner's main theme (it sounds much too "soaring" to define Spider-Man to me, more like a Superman b-theme - although it was mainly used when Spider-man was swinging, and not so much during crawling, so it worked well enough in the movie). Overall I find it much better than the other big comic scores from last summer - Avengers and Dark Knight Rises - which are much more of an assault on the ears. And typically I'm a much bigger Silvestri fan than a Horner fan, but this is a much more listenable superhero score all around.
