This is my first time listening to this (or, more specifically, to the CoPPO tracks from "The Hobbit") - and I was a bit puzzled by the selection of tracks chosen to represent the film. I think Over Hill has probably the best statement of the Plan 9/Misty Mountains theme, but Thunder Battle was never a particularly striking piece of the score for me - hewing very closely to some of the FOTR action material without adding anything substantial. I would have very much preferred a piece like My Dear Frodo, or the album version of the eagles' rescue, which were much bigger highlights IMO. Dreaming of Bag End isn't really representative of the score in general, but it is very lovely so I'm okay with that one popping up. The recording/performance is great on The Hobbit tracks, and fits in well with the "repeat" tracks from LOTR. A very good collection, and while I already own most of these tracks on another release, I'll never pass up a good reason to listen to these scores
