Inspired by the 'favorite King Kong score' thread. Can't really make a judgment, since I haven't heard all of them, but dammit, this score is fantastic. Four words: "Lady Kong Gets Gassed".
Just like DVD commentaries can make you believe a movie you watched was better/more intriguing in retrospect than when you first watched it, but really it wasn't - same experience I had with The River Wild. I dismissed the score as third-rate Goldsmith when I listened to it first, almost 20 years ago. Then, recently, I watched a behind-the-scenes on the music score, which got me hooked. Could it be that there is some first-rate Goldsmith inside? Well, truth be told, there isn't. Upon revisiting the album, there's really only third-rate Jerry here.
