WOAH •The Lion King 20th – June 24, 2014 •Mary Poppins 50th – August 26, 2014 •Sleeping Beauty 55th – October 7, 2014 •The Little Mermaid 25th – November 17, 2014 •Fantasia 75th – January 3, 2015 •Pinocchio 75th – February 3, 2015 •Toy Story 20th – March 17, 2015 •Disneyland 60th – April 7, 2015 •Lady and the Tramp 60th – May 12, 2015 •Pocahontas 20th – June 23, 2015 •Aristocats 45th – August 14, 2015 (Available first at D23 Expo) •Cinderella 65th – August 14, 2015 (Available first at D23 Expo) There are some great titles here, especially interested in the Menken expansions. Some of them I'm very curious as to what they are going to be doing in regards to an expansion. I thought Mary Poppins, and Fantasia were already released as complete versions. I would love to see a Legacy version of Beauty and the Beast and Tarzan.

Same here, especially in regards to The Little Mermaid and Pocahontas. With TLM, I wonder what bonus material will be included? We got a bunch on demos in the "Music Behind Behind the Magic" box set many years ago, so will those be included again this set? I'd prefer to have song instrumentals than already released demos. It will be nice to finally have Vanessa's song, as short as it was. With Pocahontas, will they include the deleted song and the film version of "Savages: Part 2"? Considering The Lion King will include "Morning Report," I expect the deleted song from Pocahontas will be included. It will be nice to have that as well. :-)

I haven't decided yet if I like it better or if I prefer the original.! I don't like these new mixes. At all ... But it seems like I'm the only one... I find the original mixes much more powerful. Don't know exactly how to explain it. But where the original mixes have given me chills, the same pieces on these new ones just sound silly (or whatever) to me (from 1'43 in I Was Just Trying To Be Brave, to give one example). While many instruments are more prominent (in places it makes it sound just weird ... like at 0'15 in Stampede), on other places they are almost gone (0'33-44 in Kings Of The Past) . Both solo instruments, and other things, like the brass... And the choir, while I love choir, and probably have always said the more choir the better, I feel like in this case that the choir is way too much in the front... But this could be that I've always liked the more 'simple' aahh'ing choir over the "singing" choir... (don't like from 9'20 in The Rightful King at all...) So I'm sticking with my precious original mixes, sorry Disney/Hans...

Regardless of mix, it's good to hear the sound is mastered sensibly. Too much dynamic compression would probably be a bigger compromise than just about any other technical decision, even mix, in a series intended for collectors. I'm glad they've apparently given that the right touch and hope it continues.

Typical Zimmer mastering of our current era.

There seems to be some REPLACEMENT of instruments - in the sense that the OST mix is full of synth instrumentation (someone on JWFan mentioned a synth flute on "This Land" being replaced by an acoustic flute in "We Are All Connected"), synth choir (as in the "aaaah"s mentioned above), etc. and this score has included live elements that have been previously unreleased. Sounds great, in my opinion. I much prefer the sound and mix of this release to the previous OST release. I'm not completely sold on the C&C of this, to be honest. I'm glad I have it, but it's probably not my preferred program of the two. There is a lot of added statements of the major themes (I don't know theme names, but there are two that are really repeated a lot on this - kind of a dramatic, more dangerous type of theme, and the triumphant, more emotional "This Land" theme) that lose a bit of their power in repitition for me.

I'll agree with that. Zimmer's albums are really well arranged on their own terms as music. Pop it in, play and enjoy.
