Please, feel free to put me on ignore so you don't have to read any more of my posts if you think they're "unhelpful".

I read this as:

Oh my God, you didn't like one of my posts? That must mean you don't like meeeeee. Just get it over with and hit ignore already!!

Well if we get enough for King of Kings ...who knows....if we do not then I save myself a lot of money !

I'm super grateful for this chance at a rerecording; to me (and apparently to one heck of a chunk of people on this forum), a new, complete King of Kings is a necessity. The prices for the old recording are beyond ridiculous; James and co. wouldn't charge anywhere near what those recordings are going for, even used on ebay and Amazon the prices are disgraceful and really frustrating for fans.

This is a chance to have something done really well by people who love the music and seem to be more than eager to get to work on it, all subservient to the composer's full and originally intended instructions.

In short, it's not only needed, but due to this love of one of Rozsa's outstanding Meisterwerks we're going to have something good enough to give as gifts both to ourselves and to others.

The favor that Tadlow is doing us just in terms of CD accessibility is a monumental reason enough to donate.

Tadlow really seems to care about this music, and it's hard to not be excited about the projected CD when keeping that in mind.

Plus the reconstruction of the music scores that have been lost over time...and can now be made available for concert use. This is all about preserving our film music heritage. Other might not give a dam...but I do and I want those who come after me to appreciate this music !

Amen to that. IMO, that is the most laudable of motives.

If you really didn't mean to be a downer then you would have kept that unhelpful opinion to yourself.

It's almost halfway after just a few days, with 42 days left to go. There are no low pledge levels ($39 USD is the lowest) so some people like me may just be saving up. I think it's got a good chance.

Yavar

Well, different strokes for different folks I suppose.

I think he is entitled to voice his opinion, and I didn't find it unhelpful either. It could have the effect of sharpening the focus on getting the money donated?

I think your last comment was a perfectly adequate retort, IMO of course smile

Of course there is a chance that this could fail and I will be certainly stressing the point closer to the time myself if the funding is not close to the target. What we need to be doing as a community is to spread the word. Since the inception of the campaign I've posted twice on the Filmtracks score board. I will send an email to Classical FM tomorrow and a tweet a link to people who might be interested. Anybody else want to help raise awareness?

I wonder if it could be of any help to inform Fanfare magazine..after all they've always given glowing reviews to Tadlow's releases...

I don't mean to be a downer, but there's no way this reaches it's target by January 8. It's not even half way there and now Black Friday is approaching and the Christmas shopping season.

Of course there's always the risk that a project fails. I don't believe that this has to do with Black Fridays or christmas or whatsoever. I think the main point is information! I think it is important to reach as many people as possible. I can imagine that not all of the true and willing fans have got internet.

On the other hand it's not the task of James Fitzpatrick alone to make this project known. Everyone can help and spread the word - and should! If we want KOK to be funded, then we have to try to do whatever we can to make this happen.

For example, I asked the webmaster of this cool site to publish my article about it - with success:
http://www.in70mm.com/news/2017/kings/index.htm

And I used another German based forum for film enthusiasts to spread the word:
https://www.filmvorfuehrer.de/topic/27027-neueinspielung-von-miklos-rozsas-k%C3%B6nig-der-k%C3%B6nige-kickstarter/

And I even contacted a German radio station www.klassikradio.de and they will report on the project tomorrow in their cinema show (which starts at 8pm).

So, think about what you can do for this project apart of donating! Together we will succeed!

Brilliant, impressive work Volker. You’ve demonstrated marvellously what we can all do to help.

I have a modest but significant following, and I posted it on both FB and Twitter. I'm in the process of writing a blog article about it.

It certainly is. I've just emailed the film music radio programs that are broadcast by Classic FM, BBC Radio 3 and Lyric FM.

There must be other people who have donated to the campaign and live in other parts of the world that could be of help be contacting radio programs and related media?

We need all the help we can get ....mind you if the £40,000 is not raised then that saves me have to contribute the extra £40,000 plus as I just did the final budget and it is £87,500.00 !!!!!

Ps that is much more than we record most contemporary film scores for....where the budgets are largely crap!

This will be a fine recording.

Those sitting on the fence just think if you contribute £30 you are in effect paying for the CD in advance. It is a win win scenario.

Just a quick question, if the project is successful when will the money be taken from the contributors account? Is it instantly or does the contributor get an advance notice to ensure sufficient funds in the account are available before the monies are taken?

From the Kickstarter website:

When is my card charged?

If the project you’re backing is successfully funded, your card will be charged when the project reaches its funding deadline. If the project does not reach its funding goal, your card is never charged.
Some backers may see a temporary authorization of funds at the time of pledging, before a project has been successfully funded. Authorizations generally drop after a few days, but this process can vary depending on your financial institution. If you notice an authorization that doesn’t drop, we recommend that you contact your bank for more details about their authorization procedure.

This is backer #157 speaking. big grin

Well, what can I say... good luck to all of us maybe? Either way thanks to Mr. Fitzpatrick. Fantastic idea doing this Kickstarter.

Roughly a week ago I posted a message at the Blu-ray.com board in a corresponding thread and informed my huuuge follower crowd on Twitter (read as: negligible). But who knows... everything counts.

Spread the word, folks!

Welcome to the club #157 :-)
You are absolutely right: Everything counts! Everyone should spread the word - and get to those without internet!

The email you receive upon backing tells you when funds will be charged: January 4, 2018 at about 3:30am EST.
