Haven't been to a Tommy's in 30 years...

It's still lovely but deadly.

LOL wouldn't have it any other way!

About a block away from where the gettogether takes place is The Pig N' Whistle a refurbished restaurant and bar that hails back to the early days of Hollywood.

We are also another block away from the Hollywood/Highland complex, modeled after the Babylonian set in INTOLERANCE, which has the Chinese Theater, Disney's El Capitan, the Kodak theater and, frankly, is a big commercial madhouse, but a lot of possibilities for eateries in and around it.

This suggestion is antithetical to the LA way of life. You're supposed to drive ungawdly distances and hassle with parking when you do ANYTHING there.

big grin

No, you are supposed to get in your car drive a block and a half and repark. That's the LA way. big grin

Well, I'll be coming the NYC way. I'm taking the Red Line to Hollywood and Vine and walking over. It's just so much eaiser for me, since I live only 2 stops away on the line.

...and if you need more incentive to come to LA that weekend?!? On May 29th the American Cinematheque is running at their sister theater, the Aero, two 70MM prints of ALIENS and THE ABYSS with James Cameron talking in between and in honor of BACK TO THE FUTURE II's 20th anniversary on the 30th they are running all three films marathon style with guests to be announced. Methinks if you are considering attending you should buy tickets early as it may sell out.

...otherwise there's not much going on around here.

Morricone, where are you seeing that info about the Aero screenings? There's nothing on their website about these (not that I'm doubting you, I just want to see what is playing the rest of the month).

I'm a member and just got their new calendar, it should be on their website soon. I just wanted, for those coming a distance, to know everything going on while they are here.

Thanks!

Those 70mm screenings will be fun and I'll probably go to the Back to the Future's as well.

Hey darkdel,

How much is shipping again for 1, 2, 3 or 4 CDs to Western Europe?
(I think I asked it before, but our posts got lost somewhere in one of the Great Post Scourges. Sorry for that.)

Shipping usually runs from $10 to $20 depending on the amount of cds you order.

It just hit me that last year we were given the opportunity to order from SAE with free shipping and picked up our orders at the event. Since Craig and Ed are coming here for this I'd think we might have a repeat of that this year.

No other FSMers in the OC interested in this? Really not interested in driving to LA alone...but gotta do what you gotta do!

How I wish the Lakers were playing that weekend. (I.e. figuring they'll be in the thick of the playoffs.) That'd really be the icing on my cake!!

Someone may have mentioned it already, but where should one stay the night? Any suggestions?

*Roach motels are not applicable (^_~)

**Oops: just saw the post about the Travel Lodge being close. Any other suggestions, just in case?

I've stayed with my family at the Safari Inn in Burbank (down the street from Warner Bros. and NBC) several times. Probably pricier than the Travelodge, and not exactly walking distance to Dark Delicacies, but we've never had a problem there.

I'm looking into coming to the weekend event. Some of you or maybe no one remembers the Varese Bash DVD that I made and put online for everyone. I want to make another one of those for everyone to enjoy who can't come and also record this historic event. I'm looking forward to coming still have to iron out a few things!!

Could someone put together a preliminary schedule of events (including places, composers, etc.) based on responses within this thread? I'd do it myself but I'm at work and am swamped as it is for the rest of the week...
