Yeah, I wasn't sure exactly what Badelt's involvement was - my understanding was that Badelt was called in but subsequently not required, as Kamen bowed to the producer's demands and "popped up" his score. It would be interesting to hear what he originally came up, although I don't dislike the score as is.

I don't know what was recorded, but X-Men has really grown on me and I'd love to hear Kamen's original, presumably more thematically and structurally coherent take on the material.

Anyway ... BATMAN & ROBIN from Goldenthal would be great ...
I know MV would release it if he could already tomorrow. Right? wink

Any Batman or X-men would be awesome!

But, of course, it IS speculation. frown

Where does MV say that a silvestri title is coming?

If this is indeed the case, it must be a complete judge dredd as a part of their archival re-issues series.

LOL. I was wonering the same thing. We already released 2 Silvestri's this year - Dutch and Eraser. Nothing else planned this year.

MV

MV - You said it yourself right here on this board. In a post on March 16th, you said:

We hope to catch Mr Silvestri on an off time for our next release with him...whatever that may be. smile

MV

The thread you can find that quote in is:

http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=67059&forumID=1&archive=0

And you weren't referring to Dutch, as that had just came out the week before

Nothing here indicates there's another Silvestri release coming this year.

It tends to go with current release trends, e.g. the Kamen release HAS to be Die Hard because LLL just released the score to another action franchise from the Fox vaults. I don't think anyone is truly sore when these speculative titles aren't released, because we tend to get wonderful suprises like The Edge instead. I don't mind what comes out, I just love that LLL are out there getting things done.

"MV : a lot of of great scores will be released this year, from Jerry Goldsmith, Michael Kamen, Danny Elfman, Les Baxter and John Williams and other marvelous composers."

That doesn't necessarily mean there will only be one Williams and one Goldsmith release, right?
Or did I miss something?

Hmmm. That could be great If more John Williams and more Jerry Goldsmith. I was researching for some Fox films and here what La-La Land could release from both JW and JG:
BAD GIRLS
CHAIN REACTION - If Varese doesn't own it perpetually...
SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY
HOME ALONE

I Didn't know X-Men had a rejected score. So it could be a 2 cd set anyway wink

There's a whole heck of a lot of Kamen and Goldsmith that I would love to purchase if I had the $$$ :0

Kamen:
THE LAST BOYSCOUT
VENOM
ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING
THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN(Still own by WB?)
NOTHING BUT TROUBLE
LET HIM HAVE IT
EVENT HORIZON

Goldsmith:
THE SHADOW (This might top off Innerspace perhaps)
FIRST KNIGHT
FOREVER YOUNG
SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY (Maybe, I donno)
BAD GIRLS
CONGO
THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS
THE RIVER WILD

I'm not mentioning any Trek scores here because I don't want to jinx it wink

There were a lot of sdtks released by Big Screen Records. I think a few scores by Goldmsith too? Does anyone know who owns the rights to that label now? Thanks. smile

Rereleasing the 1st Die Hard would be a waste seeing as Varese released a nice mostly complete representation a couple years ago, imho... but any of the sequels or any of the Leathal Weapon sequels would be a dream come true...

Except that the Varese is now out of print and goes for a fair amount of money on ebay so there must be a demand for it.

I would buy any future release, as I would any future release of Predator.

Not for guys like me who came in recently and don't wanna pay $90 used on MovieMusic!

Well, there are many scores that are now out of print and go for a great deal of money on Ebay, that doesn't mean that they deserved to be reissued.

I would much rather a see a soundtrack label spend their resources on releasing new, expanded, or remastered material.

Surely if La La Land released Die Hard 1 it would be remastered. The Varese release doesn't sound very good. And I believe it is not complete.

True. But some of us really appreciate it when they do!

The Poseidon Adventure was not only OOP and expensive, but remastered. That was good, because it wasn't a straight reissue.

If it's a significant improvement over the original then I'm all up for it. But a straight reissue would be a waste.

So everyone is excited over Speed 2 and The Edge! I know I am, but I will have to wait to pick them up (I literally HAVE to. No money right now).

MV recently revealed that Watertower is releasing the soundtrack to Batman: Under the Red Hood, so that leaves 2 more comic-book-soundtrack-release slots open for the year if things go to schedule. MV said there would be 5 this year (hard to believe this year is half gone!). Those were The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Batman: The Movie.

Superman:TAS would be great. MV did mention something about him having the music for it.

I'm quite satisfied with Varese's release, so I agree that a re-release would be a waste to those of us who already have the music if it doesn't add anything new other than marginally improved audio quality.

However, if LLL or any other label decided to re-release Die Hard, then it better be 100% complete this time. There's only about 3-4 minutes of Kamen's music from the movie that isn't on the Varese CD and I'm sure they could squeeze it onto a new CD. I think Varese cut them because they were small 20+ second underscore moments (like John's arrival at the airport, and when the terrorists cut the phone lines with the chainsaw).... but dammit, I want ALL the music! smile

If they wanted to go to the next level of completeness, they could split up Kamen's score into 2 CDs and add the Man on Fire and Aliens tracks too, along with the end credits "Let It Snow" by Vaughn Monroe / Beethoven's 9th choral music, plus the alternate tracks from the old Pony Tail b**t, such as the unique "Roy Rogers Meets Beethoven's 9th" theme that wasn't used in the movie. If they did all that, then I'd definitely double dip on this score again (or triple dip if you count the Pony Tail CD). smile

Pumped about the LLL releases announced at Comic-Con! Someone who is there had BETTER tell us what they are ASAP! smile

"The La-La Land gang is heading down to San Diego this July 20 for Comic Con. We will be down there sharing a huge booth with our good friends from TOY HUNGRY. As part of this special occasion we plan on debuting 3 new titles – PREDATORS, and Two Different 2-Disc sets (one at 5000 units and one at 3000 units). These titles will be making their world premiere down at the Con. You will be able to buy them there first, should you happen to be going. On July 15th we will be issuing a press release as to what these titles will be.

Our offices will be closed the week of the 20th and will reopen on July 26. Orders will still be taken, but nothing will be processed and shipped out until our return. Emails will not be answered. Phone calls not returned. Monkeys unfed.

On July 27, at NOON PST we will start taking orders on our website for those three titles we are debuting at Comic Con. Rest assured, we will still have plenty of copies on hand for you fine folks.

In August, business is expected to resume as usual with 4 new releases, starting with two new LIMITED EDITIONS on August 10, and then continuing that trend every two weeks until BLACK FRIDAY (although, plans may change). On November 26 we will unveil our final three releases of 2010, to be sold starting November 30.

As for the X-Files, I plan on having it out in October, shortly before Halloween (fingers crossed).

We have some wonderful new projects coming your way for the rest of 2010. Perhaps one of your grails will be in the mix."

ARGGH! I am having a very hard time being patient with things lining up to really look like it's Elfman's BATMAN!
