While the quality is wonderful I wonder if they "tinkered" with the sound. Some highs and lows are a bit distracting because I never heard them before, either on the original release or in the film itself.
Is this the way the score was supposed to be heard or were there some artistic sound adjustments?

As it was remixed from mutitracks master, I vote for an artistic choise, and I'm happy with it ! This new presentation is overall a winner. The new unreleased bits are good (except the terrible "lounge" music - why not relegate that at the end, as a bonus track ?) and the decision to create an End title from scratches (not exactly the same as the movie one, actually) is rewarded : this cd now close perfectly.
They are exactly 39" . But my fault: I said “Main Titles” but I am talking about the music located immediately before the main titles – while the "Orion" logo is developing. (http://www.divshare.com/download/11046988-d75)
I am sure this passage is missing on the new release.

That's not music playing over the Orion logo though, it's the humming noise RoboCop makes. I think it was just a clever use of the RoboCop noise being using as the Orion logo was unfolding. Take a listen in the movie whenever you see RoboCop, it's a very quiet humming noise that has a musical quality sound. But it's stil just sound FX, not music.
the only missing music in ROBOCOP is the synth sound - when we first see Robo - it comes right before Drive montage - not a big deal though as it is just a long tone - Like THE QUEEN in A L I E N S.
Ok my collection is almost complete: Robocop LP Robocop Colosseum CD Robocop Intrada CD Robocop II Robocop III
Does anybody recommend ROBOCOP - PRIME DIRECTIVES (never heard music nor seen on tv)? Maybe one day a Superman-like blue box will be released for Robocop...
I have to be honest, the proof of the pudding is in the taste, and while I've always felt that this was a really good score, until Intrada's release, I didn't listen to it very often. The sequencing and sonics on this new edition has meant that it's rarely left the play stack since its release.

lorenz
and there are the ROBOCOP SERIES SOUNDTRACK with songs by Joe Walsh - it had a great orchestral track at the end of the album, a score cue that had some sort of chase-feeling

See my above post. That isn't music heard in those scenes, but rather a low, buzzing, somewhat melodic hum sound since he's suppose to be a machine. For most scenes in the movie, you can hear RoboCop...humming, if you will. ED-209 also has a signature sound as well, but his is not so much a hum, but more of a rumbling, low growl.
How was Intrada able to release this score? I thought that after Varese renewed the license in 2003, they owned the rights in perpetuity. Isn't that why LaLa Land hasn't been able to get a hold of "A Nightmare on Elm Street"?

well' i will say that was music since the same synth sound is used in the score - and they could easily take that score sound and put it in other places in the movie
It also says on the reel list on the INTRADA album that there is a music-cue missing in the reel (if you care to read the reel numbers)
Thought I would bump this topic up to see if anyone at Intrada could let us know if they are planning to bring this title back in print since it sold out.
I would think with the remake coming out as well as the original film being put out on Blu Ray with a new transfer that they would try to get the score for the original back out for those of us who didn't get a chance to buy it before it sold out.
There is an important difference in price. Not sure about shipment though.
Good luck!
Edit: I have included the US site correctly, and indicated the ES site...
Thank you so much for this. The seller on Amazon UK agreed to ship to the US. Missed out on this big time and now I'm finally getting my hands on it. Ended up being $40 shipped.
