Where on the site can you pre order?

Nowhere...yet. You have to sign up for the newsletter; the latest one I received this past Friday had this info regarding the 11 disc set:

There will be a seven day timed pre-order to make sure that everyone has a chance to order one of these limited items. The opening and closing dates of the pre-order and exclusive link to buy will be published on this newsletter shortly.

This set is hugely expensive, and for me the first time that Silva have demonstrated what I percieve to be a more overtly commercial 'attack'. It really is going to have to be unmissable to the point where I can't resist. I would describe myself as a die-hard, but I can be just as shrewd as the music companies!

The greatest boost here would be decent amounts of Dudley Simpson, which we know don't even exist. The Murray Gold stuff appears to be repeated stuff, when there's plenty from every NuWho series before the two disc sets which started with the Specials season. Then of course there's going to be a fair amount of sound fx. I also already have the 8th Doctor TV Movie soundtrack that was released as a semi-official 'bootleg'.

There's a lot of music from both Paddy Kingsland and Peter Howell that I would like, so that's really where most of my expectations feel as if they'll bear most fruit.

The fairest thing Silva ought to do, knowing that the fans will buy into this thing if it's good enough (and plenty out there who will buy anything with the logo stamped on it), is give us a proper tracklisting so we can make our minds up now, and not be dithering when the 7 day ordering window opens.

Telling us when this seven day window is going to be would be useful, too, so people can budget accordingly.

I spent $500 on 16 Elfman/Burton discs a few years ago, so 11 discs in a fancy box with fancy books for $220 seems like a good enough deal. However, since I'm uninformed about Who music prior to Murray Gold, it doesn't seem like this is the box for me. Looking forward to importing the 4-disc set smile

Part 5 from review of future box-set!

So, we will have music from this episodes with 5th Doctor:
  • Castrovalva
  • Four to Doomsday
  • Kinda
  • Earthshock
  • Arc of Infinity
  • Snakedance
  • Mawdryn Undead
  • Enlightenment
  • The King's Demons
  • The Five Doctors
  • Warriors of the Deep
  • The Awakening
  • Frontios
  • Resurrection of the Daleks
  • Planet of Fire
  • The Caves of Androzani

I'm guessing most of these will be repeats of the "The Music II" album (re-issued by Silva):

    Enlightenment
    The King's Demons
    The Five Doctors
    Warriors of the Deep
    The Awakening
    Resurrection of the Daleks
    Planet of Fire
The Caves of Androzani (possibly an "alternate" suite as per the 4 discer)

It's possible that more than an hour of the Davison disc might be music that Silva Screen has released before (on, for example, their Earthshock and Five Doctors discs).

That might only leave fifteen minutes for the music from Castrovalva, Frontios, Black Orchid and Mawdryn Undead.

I hope I'm wrong, because the set's starting to look like quite poor value-for-money, for collectors.

In other words, Silva will bring best cues from ALL stories with 6th Doctor.

I just came across a surprising reference to the music of Doctor Who while reading about this young author^^. Good for her!

    http://blog.ted.com/2014/01/03/beth-reekles-teen-fiction/

If she’s feeling blocked, she turns on background music — such as the soundtrack to Doctor Who or Pirates of the Caribbean — to help her feel more creative. “Something emotive and exciting,” she says.

I'm not sure if this has been flagged up elsewhere, but Silva Screen are now supplying replacement booklets for the 4 disc set to correct the problem with the running order on the fourth disc. Contact them at info@silvascreen.co.uk to request a replacement.

While it's (understandably) only a skim though 50 years of music, I have to say that I'm enjoying this set immensely.

Part 8 from review of future box-set!
    http://blogtorwho.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/exclusive-artwork-notes-from-11-disc_10.html

We will have music from this episodes with 8th Doctor:
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...

    Oh, wait!
    It's 8th Doctor!!!
So we will have only Complete score for Doctor Who: The Movie big grin big grin big grin

And I predict, that next part will be more interesting and informative...

Part 9 from review of future box-set!
    http://blogtorwho.blogspot.ru/2014/01/exclusive-artwork-notes-from-11-disc_20.html

We will have music from this episodes with 9th Doctor:
  • Rose
  • The End of the World
  • Aliens of London
  • World War Three
  • Dalek
  • Father's Day
  • Boom Town
  • Bad Wolf
  • The Parting of the Ways

    Bonus Tracks:
  • 30 Years in the TARDIS (1993) by Mark Ayres
  • More Than 30 Years in the TARDIS (1994) by Mark Ayres
  • The New Series - The 10th Doctor: Songs & iTunes exclusive tracks by Murray Gold
  • The New Series - The 11th Doctor: iTunes exclusive tracks by Murray Gold

    WARRING!
    Quote from notes:
Murray re-recorded the major themes from season one with the orchestra, and it is those re-recordings that are featured here, the rest of Disc 9 being made up with “bonus” tracks.

So, as I predicted earlier, it's seems that where will be not so much new music for 9th-10th-11th Doctors. At least, I hope that they can use new themes for 11th Doctor! If no - this will be sad.

Thanks for the update JB Fan. Can't help but be disappointed since these stories were already represented on the Series 1 & 2 soundtrack that Silva released years ago. Without seeing the actual track list, I'm going to assume that the tracks will be the same ones already released, since those were re-recordings from series one. Sigh...I would say that this revelation would put me on the fence for buying the set, but being the WHO fan that I am, I'll still try to get it.

And another point - even if Discs 9-11 will have no new music (but at least Disc 9 will have some portion of new music from documentaries...), we will have complete score for 8th Doctor and as for me, Discs 1-8 will become real treasure ('cause I don't own any CDs with Classic series music & effects)!

Part 10 from review of future box-set!
    http://blogtorwho.blogspot.ru/2014/01/exclusive-artwork-notes-from-11-disc_28.html

And this probably means, that if we will get Disc 11 review next week, so shortly after this we finally can pre-order this set.

But I digress we will have music from this episodes with 10th Doctor:
  • The Christmas Invasion
  • New Earth
  • Tooth and Claw
  • The Girl in the Fireplace
  • Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel
  • Doomsday
  • The Runaway Bride
  • Smith and Jones
  • Gridlock
  • Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks
  • Human Nature/The Family of Blood
  • Blink
  • Utopia
  • The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords
  • Voyage of the Damned
  • Partners in Crime
  • Planet of the Ood
  • The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky
  • The Doctor's Daughter
  • Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead
  • Midnight
  • Turn Left
  • The Stolen Earth/Journey's End
  • The Next Doctor"
  • Planet of the Dead
  • The Waters of Mars
  • The End of Time

So, my predictions that where will be no new music for 9th-10th-11th Doctors gets more confirmation. At least, they could include some unreleased theme variation? But now I think that this is less possible...

I'm guessing that they think there are quite a lot of NuWho / Gold fans they don't want to upset by releasing exclusive material on a £135 boxset.

Final part from review of future box-set!
    http://blogtorwho.blogspot.ru/2014/02/exclusive-artwork-notes-from-11-disc.html

We will have music from this 11th Doctor's stories (all of them already were released by SS):
  • The Eleventh Hour
  • The Beast Below
  • Victory of the Daleks
  • The Time of Angels / Flesh and Stone
  • Amy's Choice
  • The Hungry Earth / Cold Blood
  • Vincent and the Doctor
  • The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang
  • A Christmas Carol
  • The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon
  • The Curse of the Black Spot
  • The Doctor's Wife
  • The Rebel Flesh / The Almost People
  • Let's Kill Hitler
  • The Girl Who Waited
  • A Town Called Mercy
  • The Angels Take Manhattan
  • The Snowmen
  • The Bells of Saint John
  • The Rings of Akhaten
  • Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS
  • The Name of the Doctor

Now we only need to wait for Silva's letter.
And yes, £135 for 8 1/2 CDs - is expensive! They really must do price lower.
And we still not get actual track-lists! I will not be surprised if most music from first 8 Doctor stories also was released previously... frown
