I agree. The opening 8-minute track is some of Carpenter's finest music of his entire career. However, the album could definitely use expansion. The opening credit music ain't even on there, and that's some freaky stuff.
The soundtrack that I posted way back that started the whole "posting just the cover pic instead of typing out what you're listening to" habit in the NP thread. Also, incidentally, one of the few Elfman-scored things I haven't yet seen.
I pull this one out every now and then, hoping I'll change my mind about it, but it suuuuure is hard to get past Mickey Mousing style of some of the cues and the elevator music feel of much of the score. Regardless, I quite enjoy parts of it, though it's definitely my least favourite Bond score. For better or for worse, I am now playing Michel Legrand's NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN:
Though I like neither the Intrada cover nor the original Seven Seas LP cover, I prefer the LP cover (though I'm mystified by the shelf behind Bond, which looks like it holds some dried flowers and at least 1 Franklin Mint plate - not exactly soundtrack art for a spy of Bond's calibre).
Okay, just kidding, but I am playing the samples from the Kritzerland website, doesn't that count? I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stoked about this one. I think they're gonna go really quickly!
