I've seen a few dates floating around for Police Academy? Has there been any confirmation on whether it's going to be released in March, April or May? Been waiting for this one for a long time!

And this is why we don't like to talk about Fight Club. smile

It will be out when it comes out

MV

Thanks MV! Appreciate all you guys' hard work and for answering us on this board! Just excited and curious.

Currently making the Facebook rounds:

THE CHALLENGE
MUSIC BY JERRY GOLDSMITH
LLLCD 1248
LIMITED EDITION OF 3000 UNITS
RETAIL PRICE: $19.98

Produced by MV Gerhard
Mastered by James Nelson
Liner Notes by Jeff Bond
Art Direction by Mark Banning

We are very excited to be re-releasing one of Mr Goldsmith’s coolest action scores of all time to the John Frankenheimer directed thriller THE CHALLENGE (aka SWORD OF THE NINJA; aka THE EQUALS). This 1982 modern day samurai yarn was scored in arguably Jerry Goldsmith’s greatest and most diverse years as a composer (other scores in 1982 include First Blood, Poltergeist, Secret of NIHM and Inchon). This newly remastered edition features new liner notes by Jeff Bond (celebrating his 50th Jerry Goldsmith project as a writer) and incredible artwork by Mark Banning. As an added bonus we have corrected the finale and replaced it with the proper take (the bonus track includes the other take released on the previous version).
(Please note that it was Mr. Goldsmith himself that wanted the incorrect (and his preferred) take to be included on the Prometheus release and was no fault of the label.)

Next up:

THE HOLE
Music by Javier Navarrete
LLLCD 1247
Limited Edition of 3000 units
Retail Price: $19.98

Produced by Javier Navarrete and Dan Goldwasser
Mastered by Doug Schwartz
Art Direction by Dan Goldwasser

Spanish composer Javier Navarrete fills in Jerry’s shoes exquisitely with this creepy, sensitive gothic horror score to Joe Dante’s latest opus, THE HOLE. Like his score to the brilliant Pan’s Labyrinth, the score to The Hole is designed to scare, inspire and awe its listeners.

From visionary director Joe Dante comes a suspense thriller that explores the fears and secrets buried deep in the human mind. Life couldn’t possibly get worse, or so thought 17 year old Dane (Chris Massoglia) and his 10 year old brother Lucas (Nathan Gamble), when their single mother Susan (Teri Polo) uproots them from New York City to the sleepy little town of Bensonville. For Dane the only exciting thing about their new town is the beautiful girl next door, Julie (Haley Bennett). With Susan spending more and more time at work, Dane and Lucas are left unattended to explore the depths of their eerie new residence. With Dane paying more attention to Julie, he has far less time and patience for his little brother. But then everything changes when they find a sinister bottomless hole under a locked trap door in the basement. As the brothers experiment with the hole they realize that the cold pit goes on forever. They drop a nail and never hear it hit bottom. They lower a flashlight and a video camera and they get consumed by the darkness. Hoping for some answers about the house's past, Dane and Lucas bring Julie in on their new discovery. When the hole is exposed, evil is unleashed. With strange shadows lurking around every corner and past nightmares coming to life, the trio will have to come face to face their darkest fears to put an end to THE HOLE.

Both cd’s go on sale Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 1 pm pst

For any Goldsmith Fans who haven't yet picked up The Challenge, it's a great score! I'm not sure if it's worthy of a re-buy... that'll depend on whether the sound quality is improved.

Chris.

For some reason while I'm reading the description for THE HOLE, I keep thinking about Tiny Toons Adventures when little baby Plucky Duck is dropping items down the toilet and flushing them... "Toilet Painter go down the hole..." smile

We must have had similar childhood TV viewing habits. I remember finding that insanely funny when I first saw it at the age of 5 or 6... toilet humor's a surefire hit with that age group!

Chris.

Wow, only fifty? eek

Anyways, I'm happy with the Prometheus album, and I'm not spending another $20 just for one alternate take. Nice that this excellent action score is back in print, though. smile

Let the speculation commence... or we could just wait, cuz, it's almost April.

lol

There is no speculation -- its Roque Banos' score to the new EVIL DEAD. It's a play on words of the ad campaign.

Isn't the tagline for the new EVIL DEAD remake "The most terrifying film you will ever experience"?

Yes.

It makes sense. MV was one to comment on the Evil Dead thread (hey, that rhymes) about how it's a fantastic score. And he doesn't have all the time in the world to roam the board and comment on everything. The assumption is... logical.

So, should be a pass if it not what the composer wanted, right? I will keep my old copy.
These autographed copies sell out fast!

In all honsety it's one great and creepy score. Like Scream meets The Omen. Very textured -- both thematically and instrumentally.

Banos, Navarrete and Velazquez are really bringing back that great horror sound of Baxter and Bernard mixed with the thematic chops of early Chris Young.
