I like this word. It's exiting. (Yes, there's a pun.)
Seriously though. I think the trailer was awesome. Williams new music wasn't grand or anything but it was functional and it was definitely Star Wars. I'm really, really looking forward to this picture.
So there's TWO trailers suddenly at once! I like the one with the X-Fighters over water and the Millenium Falcon, but the other trailer (with old Hamill and the poor CGI exploding freighter) looked not so good (I'm being polite there). I'm sure we will see plenty more during the next 12 months.
Although I won't throw out the word HATE or anything, it just was and I felt nothing.
- I agree that new light saber looks beyond stupid.
- The Falcon and X-Wing shots were in indeed pretty cool.
But while Lucas didn't rape my childhood, the Prequels killed STAR WARS for me and mind you, I bought the Widescreen VHS of the Originals, the Widescreen Special Edition VHS and The Original Trilogy on DVD but between how terrible the Prequels were and the never ending CGI and tweaks, I have yet to buy the Blurays.
Even the DVD set justified its purchase with the Ken Burn's documentary which showed ORIGINAL footage galore but the Bluray set omitted it so fuck it.
Dear Disney, you have a cash cow for sure. Do re-release the Original Trilogy in its original form and we fans will buy it gladly!
Same goes for the film scores!!!
Improve the sound and picture on anything EPISODE 4,5, and 6 and I'll buy three of each!

Actually...no. I just went to youtube and saw two trailers at the top for Star Wars. So, unknown to me at the time, I liked the official one but didn't like the fake one. I suppose that bodes well for the film.
The "Special Edition". Classic! I was hoping for Jar Jar in an X-wing.
BTW, I read on another board the Falcons new radar dish is rectangle in shape, sort of like a navy ships radar. If you freeze frame the teaser its very obvious.
Yes, it replaces the old dish on the ship, which was broken off in the second assault on the rebuilt Death Star in Return of the Jedi.
Another geek alert. The X-Wings have two wings not four. The two, split in half back to front.
Nice, here's another: you can hear an Imperial Probe Droid transmission sound at the beginning right after Boyega appears on screen.
That Lucas SE trailer was hilarious, I literally laughed out loud at Jabba the Hutt and when the voiceover says ""The dark side...and trade negotiations"
Im so looking forward to the new Star Wars movies but im sick and tired of people bashing on George Lucas and the prequels. As a guy in his late thirties i have to say i absolutley LOVED the prequels and have seen them many many times.George Lucas is a genius and every SW fan should be thankful that he brought us this wonderful franchise and stop hating.
Only problem i had with the new trailer was the complete lack of any shot of the original characters.Besides that...WOW!
I'm happy to take a good, thrilling, and adventurous movie, no matter the creator. At this point, I see JJ Abrams being more capable of this than the formerly great George Lucas.
And I say this as someone who has rarely enjoyed an Abrams film (that first Star Trek was nifty though) and who has suffered through the prequels with a still-strong love and fascination with Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.
Nice "tremor in The Force" from John Williams...and the voice-over suggesting the ways of the Jedi--and Sith--have been forgotten for a time...until now was haunting and chilling. Cool environments, too, especially that eerie forest by saber light (an angry rod, suggesting a Dark Side Swordsman--or woman, no?), and those still waters cut by X-Wing wake... And nothing beats old-school, man-in-suit Storm Trooperness. Was there a single, non CGI trooper in the prequel trilogy? Indications of someone playing dress-up in said garb had me thinking of Han and Luke's princess freeing by way of Wookie Prisoner Ploy and trash compactor--Leia's contribution--in A New Hope.
Not to mention--but yes, to mention--the Ben Burtting: First official Star Wars Episode TIE Fighter roar to grace my ears since Jedi in '83 (but then there were some early TIEs at the end of Revenge of the Sith, weren't there?).
What's the point of Star Wars if even the remote possibility of another decent film can't derail one's cynicism for ten minutes? And we have considerably more than that with this solid teaser, even without indication of a Gold Bikini encore...
But it's obvious this film ain't gonna be for me. Will happily accept the Williams score before retreating back into my cave though.
John says it's a package deal: No Episode VII, no score for you!
And unfortunately, far too many people absolutely loathe this new trailer for you to get any hipster, contrarian points for swimming against the stream. I suggest asking Alan Moore: "Are you sure I don't like this thing?"
Just remember in that cave of yours: Your weapons, you will not need them... I'm just sore because you don't like Starship Troopers...
