It is great to have this opportunity to hear the work in its literally unfinished form as part of this Varese series of re-recorded Herrmann scores on CD.

Certainly, the Bernstein recording is very satisfying with a finale of sorts.

Never seen the flick, but by God is this score ever gorgeous. Do yourself a favour people and seek out this Philippe Sarde Masterpiece.

And kudos to Universal France for their Écoutez le Cinéma series. It has truly enriched my musical and cinematographic horizons, and it revitalized my interest in film scores a few years ago.
